He won't go to the Eagles unless he goes for money. From what I understand he wants to come to us. We have been in for him for years and almost got him to come back before he signed his current contract. I also doubt he will want to go from a Sydney team that is competing at the top end to a team that is going to be stuck at the bottom for a while yet.

Unlike most WA players, he is in the position of growing up not supporting one of the WA teams so there isn't a real tie to one team like with Baker and the Eagles.
IMO history plays a part when WA lads come home. Freo just are not a successful club. If Warner wants to try to win a Premiership, his best bet is at West Coast.

Did you know before 1992 west coast were not a successful club either. So why would have anyone wanted to go there? Classic Jod logic

What a weird stretch. 1992 was 32 years ago.

Happy to have Smith, reckon he’ll be a super solid addition to our midfield.
Guthrie is the one. Get him fit and playing and looks very different to mid season when PFD was injured.
From Bruhn, Bowes, Atkins, Blicavs, Clark to Dangerfield, Smith, Guthrie, Holmes, Stewart.
WCE lost no one?
Think that got caught in the post-deadline server meltdown. I had them there before Barrass trade and changed it.

Still darling but fair enough not counting him lol.

I mean it took us 5 years to win our first Premiership. How's it going over at Freo? 28 years and counting right?

We've won 4 Premierships in 37 years and made 7 GF's in 37 years.

You guys have made one GF and lost it.

Guys know coming back to Perth that the smart move is to join West Coast. A successful club.

:)

You won those flags with a glorified state team which is why we were put into the competition. The AFL wanted to weaken you and your ability to load up with the best Sandgropers.

It took 44 years to win a second flag, but people still went and stayed there.
Carlton hasn't won a flag since 1995 and Chris Judd chose them, others have chosen them. Players go where they want to, some for immediate success, others because they want to. This whole dig at Fremantle is pathetic and childish, which isn't surprising given the person doing it.

You were also given the WA state side to choose from from the outset.
A set of entry concessions no club since has come close to getting access to.

Some clubs are successful, some arent. It's just how it is. Freo isnt one of those successful clubs that wins Premierships. It's why when people come back to WA, West Coast is usually the place they want to come to.

It's not a dig at Freo. It's just facts.

So Sydney/South Melbourne didn't win one for what, 80 years? To you that's an unsuccessful club.

I wouldnt South Melbourne/Sydney a successful club no.

They were formed in 1873 and have won 5 premierships. That's not great.

Still more successful than Freo though.
But they won premierships and you said successful clubs win premierships. So which is it Jodly?

What players? Before Baker the last one I can think of is Tim Kelly and that is only because Harley Bennell was on our list and it is a well known fact among Freo supporters at least that the Kelly's and Bennell's were in a massive feud

You can go round in circles if you want mate. St Kilda has won a Premiership but they are not a successful club.

It's called common sense bro.

Successful clubs in the AFL are clubs like Brisbane, West Coast, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn etc...

Clubs that arent successful are your GWS's, Gold Coast, Freo, St.Kilda, North Melbournes etc.

I mean you're the one going around in circles and making up arbitrary things that apply to certain clubs but not others.

First you said Freo haven't won a flag therefore not a successful club.
Then you said successful clubs are one's that have won flags, but aren't specific ones that have won flags. The Jod rule - an arbitrary, meaningless and made up "fact".

I'm sorry your team isnt successful.

You also state that WA players only want to come back to West Coast.

Players returned in the last 10 years:
Bolton - Fremantle
Baker - WC
Tyler Brockman - WC
Luke Jackson - Fremantle
Jaeger O'Meara - Fremantle
Sam Petrovski Seton - WC
Jordan Clark - Fremantle
Zac Langdon - WC
Blake Acres - Fremantle
Reece Conca - Fremantle
Jesse Hogan - Fremantle
Rory Lobb - Fremantle
Travis Colyer - Fremantle
Nathan Wilson - Fremantle
Brandon Matera - Fremantle
Brendon Ah Chee - WC
Cam McCarthy - Fremantle
Bradley Hill - Fremantle
Shane Kersten - Fremantle
Joel Hamling - Fremantle
Harley Bennell - Fremantle
Lewis Jetta - WC

That's 6 for WC and 16 for Fremantle.

Do you ever just stop to think before you post?

West Coast has to hint they want the player as well mate.

Bennell, Hamling, Kersten, Conca, Wilson... the list goes on.

It goes both way, West Coast are a successful club because we try to bring top players in. Freo just take anyone who wants to come back to WA.

Why cant you just accept that Freo arent a very successful club?

I know we're not successful but it's irrelevant to people moving clubs. Why don't you accept that you make shit up constantly?

Jodly strikes me purely as a West Coast fan and has little knowledge about the game as a whole.

From the uniqueness of Fitzroy's 1916 premiership to the flaws of the Argus system.
How Waverley came to be.
How Geel and NM have a unique bond that kept both in the league against the pushback from Ess/Carl.
The introduction of the 10 year rule.
The zoning system, how it was manipulated and then replaced.

We could go on.
