Really good chase from Australia on that pitch. After Perth they’ve played the better cricket and deserve to win the series.

No doubt it was a stupid shot from Konstas but he’s young and just needs to learn from it. Still he’s played 2 tests and now played 2 innings that had a big impact on the result so he’s off to a great start.

Even better debut from Webster. Looked the best batsmen on either team. Him being in the team along with Green when he comes back would give the team great options for all conditions. Hopefully he keeps it going.

Bumrah the clear player of the series. Overall I’d say Head was Australia’s best.

About as composed and mature a Test debut as I can recall from Webster. Yes he’s 31 and has plenty of first class experience. However stepping into the 5th test in a pressure cooker of a series and delivering as he did is a hell of an effort.

Australia consistently better since the Perth match and in those big moments came out on top more often than not. Bumrah deserved player of the series. If he bowled today, phwoar what could’ve been for India.

It was probably well above 50 in Australia prior to this series, his first two tours here were prolific however the two recent ones would be poles apart.

India’s batting overall has been very ordinary, record breaking from what I read yesterday. Averaging 18 runs per wicket in the first innings is the lowest for the season across all teams in 2024. There’s only so many times you can rely on Bumrah to bail you out and paper over the cracks of the batsmen failing.

Take away for me is Sangakkara. Bloke was insanely good yet always gets relegated as not being as good as Sachin, Ponting and Lara when he (and Kallis) were better. Averaged 69 batting at 3 when he dropped the gloves, only Bradman, Hammond and Barrington had a higher average there. Still the best batter I've ever seen.

Speaking of greats. Has anyone come close to Brian Lara’s 1994?

Note: The 1934 tour he was unwell for a large portion of the matches played. Late in the tour needing surgery for appendicitis that then led to peritonitis.

Fun Fact: In the 1994 County season where Lara hit 9 centuries incl. the FC record score. He did not average 90 and was beaten for the County batting average by Middlesex batsman John Carr.

Only other dominant year would be Mohammad Yousuf. Robbed of ICC cricketer of the year 2006 with a record 9 test centuries.

He would be the Newman character in Seinfeld.
Universally hated.

That’s why there needed to be an umpire, with the same traits as Bookman, especially for Kohli.
