Play the janitor and the bus driver for the league cup game, IDGAF
Give the academy a run like we did during the Club World Cup. I actually want us to lose as we don't have the squad to fight on all 4 fronts. Just want the club to focus everything on the EPL and Champions League.

Why keep Robbo as a backup, he's cooked. Kostas can stay.
I'm not ready to say he's cooked just yet, he's certainly going through a bad patch. But he just made the TOTW in the CL midweek. Need more evidence which I'm sure the rest of the league season will provide.

Yeah the squad massively shrunk over the summer.

Loans to Doak, Bajcetic, Koumas, Phillips and selling guys like Clark and Matip and Thiago retiring. We only really brought in one guy too which was Chiesa.

Just dont have the cattle to fight on all four fronts now.

Usually the midweek game would be an opportunity for Koumas, Phillips, Baj, Doak etc... but instead we have to play first team players.

I hope Nyoni gets a start though.

This should be a competitive side and we would still make 9 changes.

--------------Nunez
--------Jota-Elliott-Chiesa
----------Macca-Endo
Kostas-Gomez-Quansah-Jones
------------Kelleher

Subs: Jaros, VVD, TAA, Gravenberch, Morton, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo
Is Kostas back?

I'd give Nyoni a start!

Honestly don't care about the League Cup, we have a danger game away to Tottenham next, where I think there is a chance we could drop some points again. Plus 3 EPL games in a week, then play United before the break. Crucial we win all four to keep the pressure on the other teams in the EPL title race. Play a weaker side and rest up those who have seen heaps of minutes this season, or play them off the bench.

The issue with full "no senior players" rotation is at the very least Jota, Chiesa and Endo all badly need minutes. Elliott too.

The defence is the issue with putting a competitive team on the park on Thursday morning.

Kelleher - Norris - ??? - Quansah - ??? - Endo - Mac Allister - Elliott - Chiesa - Jota - Nunez/Gakpo

Once again, Alisson, VVD, Gravenberch and Salah should be left out of the squad entirely to ensure rest.

Perhaps a TAA/Jones "each get a half" time share at RB might work, but we still need another CB and I'm inclined to rest Gomez.

Either way, I won't be that upset if we get knocked out. Although Southampton look terrible ATM.

Even with a weakened line up, can still beat Southampton.
Endo Elliott Mac need minutes.

Jota up front with Chiesa (please, would love to see him start. Italian pride)

He’s not bad. But it’s Konate not playing that’s putting pressure on VVD. Robertson has been forced to defend deep quite a bit this season.

Soton sack Martin so the dreaded "new manager syndrome" coming up, not that I really care about the LC.

I also think it’s good for us that Spurs had a soft kill. Might lull them into a false sense of security.
Still dangerous. Teams haven’t tried to dominate possession v Liverpool. Feel like Ange’s philosophy is perfect to break down the back 4. A draw is probably going to be a par.

Overall, you take the draw. To go down to 10 men early and then go behind not once but twice and still come away with the draw. You take those.

Even better that Arsenal drew so they havent caught us at all.

I think City are cooked so not too worried about them. Chelsea could be a problem.

But all told, not a terrible day.

I think it's more reactionary on Trent in particular today. They had an extra man remember so there is just more space for them and TAA was obviously asked to move inside quite a bit to create for us as with one less player, we would need his elite passing to hopefully open something up for us.

Fulham obviously countered this tactic by playing everything down Trent's side and why wouldnt they with TAA so far forward, trying to create, an extra man and extra space on the field and only Gravenberch (who was my MOTM) to cover Trent playing at CB.

We have the best defence in the league and we were elite when Konate was playing. Since the Konate, Bradley, Tsimi injuries, we've been stretched and it hasnt helped that Robbo has kinda fallen off a cliff.

Once we get Konate back, we will be fine defensively I reckon. At least for this season. Depending on whether TAA signs a new deal or not, we might be looking at some new FB's in the summer.

Gravenberch is some footballer though, just eased back into CB and controlled the game really. He's so impressive.

Getting Jota back was huge, he's so clinical. Just does not **** about. If we can get back Konate now and both Jota and Ibou stay fit, we can win the league. Long way to go though.
That 2nd Fulham goal was all on TAA. His man ran past him and created the overload. I've had enough of him. Every player in the team runs harder and defends better than TAA.

First goal came from Trent not being able to stop the cross. He has defended well this season but that was by far his worst game

We need to find some defensive solidarity back, we had a strong shape for a lot of this season but that seem to have gone out the door since Ibou's injured. Spurs will be dangerous against us unless we defend as a team

Konate should have have been rested against Real as should have the majority of the regular 11/12. This is Real, they hack and get away with it. That was one game where we could have afforded to drop points and still be fine. Instead we win that meaningless match, lose Konate in the process and then draw our next two league games despite scoring 3 and 2 goals respectively, because our defence was shambolic. In-****ing-furiating.

Hopefully Slot wises the **** up and learns that not every game is a champions league final. And whilst he's at it, stop joking about 115 charges in pressers, we don't want to give the cheats any more motivation in our next match against them and he needs to stop being so divulging about tactics after a gane. I know that makes for good tv but what's he trying to do, give away his entire playbook? Just zip it FFS.

The writing's on the wall, signs of decline are there. Some players lose their legs at 35, some do at 30 (Fabinho a good example). The old Robbo isn't coming back unfortunately. We have to be realistic here. Robbo's been playing at an intense level for the last 7 years, he's probably burnt out and now in his early 30s.

I believe Robbo has a lot to offer in terms of experience / cover / competition next season alongside someone like Kerkez or Ait-Nouri. I'd sell Kostas in the summer and once Robbo departs with a massive thankyou in 2026 I'd promote someone like Chambers if he's good enough as LB cover for our first choice LB.

To be fair to Robbo, Slot did say post match that he probably made a mistake not subbing him after that tackle since there were a couple of situations after that where he could tell Robbo wasn't moving that freely nor did he have the pace he normally does.
