I'd be much more concerned if that two point gap was Arsenal lurking or City.

But yeah obviously it's shrunk a bit which isnt good, we do have a game in hand so can stretch it back to 5 hopefully.
and naturally we'd take a 2 point lead rather than a deficit.

obviously as diehard LFCers, we just dont want a repeat of what shall not be mentioned which is why even with a table lead we are afraid

Everyone keeps saying they aren't afraid of Chelsea, they keep closing the gap

Write them off at your peril I say, stranger things have happened with the league

Oh I'm not writing them off. But it's still early, we could move 5 points clear again and then one loss from Chelsea, suddenly it's 8 points. We're still in control.

I think the GK position is a problem for Chelsea too.

They can certainly score goals though which is a problem cos goals win games.

We just gotta put our heads down and keep winning. I think now Jota is back and if we can get back Konate, we should be fine hopefully.

We gotta go back to winning ways first, if we don't win against Spurs then it's 3 games in a row without a win, 3 points is a must

We had a poor record travelling to London last year if I remember correctly
Yeah cant drop points in three games in a row. We've let Chelsea back in, dont want to let Arsenal or City back in too.

Gotta put the hammer back down now.

This should be a competitive side and we would still make 9 changes.

--------------Nunez
--------Jota-Elliott-Chiesa
----------Macca-Endo
Kostas-Gomez-Quansah-Jones
------------Kelleher

Subs: Jaros, VVD, TAA, Gravenberch, Morton, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo
Yeah same, but Kostas back???

Has he been playing?
They reckon he's made 18 appearances, but I reckon most of them have been from the bench. I read somewhere the fans weren't too happy with him. His minutes were probably coming because of Pep. Depending on whether the next coach likes him, he might be better off coming here or getting re-loaned to a championship side for the remainder of the season if he isn't guaranteed minutes.

It seems the 18 months out has destroyed him. Unfortunate as he could have been our future at #6.

I haven't lost total hope with him. You're right the year out last season hurt him, as I could've seen him playing a lot of minutes, Klopp was a big fan. Our record with sending players out on loan out of the UK isn't great. I get the CL experience might be good, but probably better sending them off to a championship side. The physicality of the league is probably better for them to get up to speed quicker.

He seems to be going down the Jon Flanagan path atm. I hope he can turn it around but usually when things go like this for a young player it is hard to turn it around.

I think it is worth saying at this point: Slot ain't much for the kids. Sold a bunch before the season started, send about the same number away on loan, hasn't played the ones who stayed.

Outside of certain situations, Klopp didn't play kids for their own sake, but if he thought you had something, he trusted you and played you.

I saw an article about a month or so ago saying he was playing regularly and the fans had taken to him.
I've kept a close eye on Bajcetic, he's been bad. Looks very slow as well. He's not really a starter for them either.

Slot pre-Soton game presser notes:

Kostas in full training and is close. Made it sound like he's unlikely for this game, maybe Spurs?

Jota didn't train yesterday, hopefully trains today. Body wasn't feeling good after his sub appearance. Likely to be on the bench instead.

Chiesa will play, but Slot yet to decide if he'll start or be a sub. Won't play 90 mins.

Kelleher in goal confirmed.

Slot not ruling out playing midfielders in defence.
