I think the biggest problem with the show this year is how unlikeable most of the cast are. Is it just how they're being edited, or are they truly this insipid in real life?

I agree, it's hard to watch. I like the boys and the two girls but the other three couples are horrible.

For something like the Block you want it to be fun to watch. There is always crying and drama but it usually goes in waves. Most of this group is constantly grumpy and nasty.

Kristian is very dodgy and Kylie is awful

Yeah I thought it was a tad ironic the tradie they admitted being a bit intimidated by, then decides to bail them up and swear at them several times. Like.. way to not be intimidating mate. :rolleyesv1:
I reckon he was always looking for a way out. Just needed an excuse.

I hope when builder Zac watches this back, he sees how he acted, and it's a wake-up call. I'm not sure if he was being passive-aggressive or aggressive-aggressive, but whenever someone gives an apology like that, they are never truly sorry. He acted like a misogynistic douchebag. Bullying two young women like that was disgusting. In the end, he hurt his own brand there.

I think Kyle would be a great get for M&C. He reminds me of Joel Selwood when he speaks, a positive and kind person (and yes, I've spoken to Joel). It was odd how the other contestant's Chinese whispers went from Kyle might do it to he is doing it, to Cara giving styling advice. Those people have lost all objectivity. Maybe that's the Block bubble taking effect.

Zac was awful, just couldn't work through anything or problem solve.

I don't know why the contestants are so upset about Kyle. Sure he will do a great job but the house is half done already and most of its planned.

The way they have done it this year is they all got help finding a builder.

Yeah, but I didn't see anyone being so upset about Duncan coming to help the lads in H3. But I suppose after seeing what the girls did in that bedroom in three days and knowing they would now have an excellent builder helping them with Block experience, a few of them worried about the threat the girls could become to the competiton.

Zac was spot on.
What selfish rude entitled minx turned her back on him mid conversation.
God this current generation is absolutely horrendous.
I would've packed my tools and been off.
Discussing problems, solutions disagreeable outcomes are part of life.
Sheer unintelligent little brats are not worth it.

The boys should be concerned as they have a builder like Duncan and still haven't finished off a room for a couple of weeks.

The girls have had a rough start. 3 days of the first week. Kristen stitched them up with the plasters. Builder seemed to have a massive chip on his shoulder. Maybe he was one of these loyal to Jesse and Paige. Who knows but he didn't want to be there.

So the girls saw an opportunity and took their shot.

Honestly the fall out seems like more editing than anything, I'm sure the cast aren't actually a mob of assholes as it's coming across and that Kristian isn't as dodgy as he is being shown.

Kitchen Week

Overall, they were a bit similar, as you would expect, with the contestants only allowed to use a show sponsor to build and design them.

H1: 9/10 There were some minor issues, but I thought they nailed it mostly. It had a nice feel to it.
H2: 8/10 There were some minor issues, but I liked the marble they used.
H3: 6/10 The guys really effed up the functionality of this kitchen, which was unforgivable. It looked bland.
H4: 8/10 There were some minor issues, but overall, it was OK if you're into black kitchens. I'm not.
H5: 7/10 It didn't wow me, but no kitchen in house at this price should have functionality issues.

That bench top in H2 was way too much. In general, I don't like their style because there's just so much going on all the time. In know interior designers love that, not sure buyers will.

With h3, as soon as I saw where the oven was I said to the wife that's a shit spot for it, they'll get smashed here.

H1 and H4 were good kitchens. H2, H3 and H5 were average.

The boys kitchen was unfairly judged.

This whole 'thoroughfare' thing while a reasonable critique, how many times are people walking by when you want to get something out of the oven? Talk about a storm in a teacup.

It was far more appealing to the average buyer than H2, or H5 for instance. H2 seems way too much, in my opinion.

I loved H4. Absolute belter! And yeah, I like dark.

I had nothing against the look of it apart from being a bit bland, but they really screwed up the functionality of it, IMO. I thought the judges were right about that. If you're buying a house at this price, then you'd expect the kitchen layout to be perfect. I wondered why Kingsman wouldn't have said something about their layout when they were designing their kitchen in week 2.

Because it's frankly not that big a deal

You're 2-3 steps away from landing it on the perfectly huge sized kitchen bench.

If we're going to judge it on it being a walk way because we have 75 people walking through it every minute, sure... but eh, as if that would ever be the case

I'm not fussed that the oven was in that location. But to put the fridge/freezer right next to it was the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

Guest Bathroom Week

H1: A nice bathroom with a subtle luxury without being OTT (like H2 & H4). 9/10
H2: Not to my taste, but I thought it was better than what the judges said. Dan V Dani loved it. 9/10
H3: They didn't wow me, but they did a decent job of it. 8/10
H4: I found the bathroom as ugly as Kylie's soul 6/10
H5: Dan V Dani pointed out a lot of building defects that will need fixing. 7/10

I bet on the open for inspection tomorrow, the other contestants will all say H1's bathroom was crap. The bias and bullying will come out again.

I thought the choice if basin in Kylie' and Brad's looked out if place and not really functionable.

The best ine win tonight by far.
