the fact is that cuz has burned his bridges at the club.

cuz did, not the club.

you cant be pissed at them, they did everything possible for a favourite son and he screwed up every chance.

if you are pissed about cuz not playing out his career with WC then be pissed at cuz. i am. (or at least i was)

Yeah I was pissed off at him for a while. I mean, imagine if he had of played out his career with us. 350+ games, multiple premierships, and I think he could have added another brownlow. Probably could have been one of the best to ever play the game.

He will know that and I think he would (or at least SHOULD) be more pissed off at himself, rather than us being pissed off at him.

It's time to forget about him (as a west coast player, not all together) and wish him all the best at wherever he ends up, as it appears he will almost certainly be playing AFL next year.

screwed up every chance how? by getting arrested on false charges?

our club abandoned him due to fear of negative publicity. and we will pay the pay the price by watching him tear us a new arseh*le on the field at least once or twice next season.

sack nisbett and barnaba.

Umm, no. Cuz made his choice and was given multiple chances. There's more at stake than bleeding hearts here

Let's sack Nisbett, Barnaba, the rest of the board, oh and Woosha

Can we also sack the guy who made that SGIO, Go Eagles Go thing

Oh, and the voice on the hold message for the membership line

While we're at it Auzzie the Eagle needs to go as well

The AFL sees fit to give Cousins another chance.
So why not the Eagles?
The AFL were his greatest critic now the WCE have taken over that mantle....Well Done ...... Something to be proud of.

Are people serious?

Why the hell do they want Ben Cousins back at our club? After all the shit he put us through, is that not enough for people? They want to see if he can stuff the club up even more?

I couldn't think of anything worse than if he came back. Look at all the chances he got. Enough is enough ... St Kilda is welcome to him.

Are you saying that you think that nobody in the club admin made any significant poor decisions that showed poor judgement over that multi year period of time regarding the drugs issue at our club that they should have been held accountable for? Did these people make all the right calls? And should Nisbett and Barnaba be able to do whatever the hell they like and never communicate with the supporters about any of their decisions?

Well if the fevered ranting we see on BigFooty and other websites is a sign of the sort of response they'd get... I don't think I'd be overly inclined to communicate either.

It's Ok to critisize Cousins...He made a lot of mistakes.......But he also gave many years of good footy , 6 x AA years, A premiership etc etc
I say that puts us about even.
A fresh start and another chance to put it right should be given.
We all know wtat they say about people who live in glass houses.
We all know the story about the prodical son....

WESTCOAST FANS PETITION THE BOARD FOR COUSINS RETURN!!!
thousands of westcoast fans and members have staged a noisy protest outside the offices of the W.C. board demanding the return of Ben cousins..showing overwhelming support, the huge crowd shouted as one.."We want cuzz, we want cuzz"..the board was unavailable for comment, but is believed to have held a rushed meeting. upon interviewed an irate senior longtime member and cuzz fan said memebrs and fans are everything, without them there is no club, so the board must respect and listent to the members and fans demands to reinstate the clubs and possibly one of footballs greatest alltime players, and let him see out his senior years back home with his club and fans...

if you want it -make it happen-its possible-act now, act fast!!
hmm-stuck my neck out there, worth a try!?

The legality is irrelevant, he had a recreational drug in his possession, which shows his obvious lack of intent and disregard to the pledge he made, in an attempt to gain trust.

I thought it was prescription not recreational. Ben is stupid but not that stupid, but it was still a breach of his contract. The AFL would have to impose the same penalties as west coast to any club he plays for. How is that fair otherwise??

And just for the record, Jeff Farmer has had just as many off field indiscretions and far worse on field but freo never sacked him and weren't forced to either. There is no consistency. You cant tell me me alcohol abuse and violence is less serious than drug abuse. Alcohol kills more people!

Cuz back to WCE. Nisbett listen to the fans!

Demetriou quote:

“Should any illicit drug or any case of illicit drug be detected in a sample should Ben Cousins fail to complete a drug test, should Ben Cousins fail to comply with any instruction or direction of the AFL medical officers, or should Ben Cousins fail to comply with any of these other conditions the general manager of football operations or the AFL Commission may deal with the matter in such a manner as the general manager of football operations or commission in their absolute discretion sees fit and within their power they may immediately suspend Cousins from playing AFL football pending the outcome of any investigation and or hearing.”

So the penalty if he relapses will apply to Cousins and Cousins only - Not to the club that has offered him the lifeline. Nowhere is it documented that if Cousins were to relapse, massive repercussions will be had for the club that he represents.

The only risk on WC taking Cuz back would be the same risk as at every club - They would lose him as a player through an AFL imposed sacking due to a failed drug test... how can that not be worth the risk?

He has been given the footballing worlds blessing to get better, and it is well publicised in the public forum that playing footy will assist in his rehabilitation - even more so at home, where he will be surrounded by family and friends.

Look at it through his eyes - This will be the last chance for a man to redeem himself - Not just as an AFL footballer, but as a role model, as a friend and as a son. The man needs his club to support him - now more than ever. If the AFL has supported him to play again, why aren't the West Coast Eagles?

If he does happen to screw up again, it will not be the Eagles' fault - it will not tarnish the WC breed one iota - all it means is that Ben Cousins wasn't able to combat the peril of drug addiction... just like the thousands of others in life - so how could the AFL sanction the club for something that not only they knew could happen, but the whole of Australia did too?

I've been saying this for the longest time, to the whines of "sanctions" from the clueless brigade.

And it is time that Nisbett moved on - he's done a great job, but he seems to be letting the personal get in front of our football clubs success.

Which fans? The noisy minority we see on the net or the quiet majority who, personally, I think are just jack of the whole situation and want the club to move on?

Are you just making that up, to suit yourself?

The polls which I saw on the news and over different, non-football fanatic, websites indicated otherwise.

Everyone i've spoken to about it in real life can see the holes in the situation.

He's the King of West Coast - not Nisbett or any other administration nobody.

Where are these quiet majority? Are they invisable too?

Cuz support amongst WCE fans is overwelming. This issue will never die, will scar the club for decades. Fix it Nisbett
