Star Wars The Book of Boba Fett

i keep thinking boba fett was a stormtrooper or something.
The Clone Troopers were essentially Boba Militarised i.e. made less independent minded etc to be better order following soldiers and the initial non-Clone Trooper Stormtroopers were trained by Clone Commandos that were even more like Boba.

The irony isn’t lost on me here given how much he (quite rightly) used to lament the toxic nature of some Star Wars fans and their vitriol online, abusing Kellie Marie Tran off social media etc.

I wonder if those trolls were doing it for a “wind up” as well? (As if that makes it okay....)

And yet he then chooses to (twice mind you) comment with, let’s call it like it is, agist and fat shaming style comments. And of course dismissing his attire as a skirt, a 5 minute google search tells me it’s drawn it’s inspiration from a First Nations style of clothing that warriors would wear into battle. Pretty cringe worthy stuff, but hey maybe that’s just me.
Ageist, fat shaming, racist; anything else you wanna throw out there? Mate, I was a bleeding heart, SJW, woke lefty before most people here had heard the word politics. Now, I’m self-aware enough to know I don’t get everything right on race or gender, what with me being a middle age, (now) middle class, mostly straight, extremely handsome white male. But I do know that joking about an accent isn’t racist given Kiwis aren’t a homogenous race. I also know joking about someone’s clothes isn’t racist either (culturally insensitive, maybe). But if Thor comes out in an akubra hat, am I allowed to laugh at the oddity, or would I be a self loathing white Australian? Don’t diminish actual racism because someone said something mean about your favourite TV show.

Also, as fat and old myself, I’m allowed to call it out. Or, you know, I wasn’t actually having a crack at Morrison, I was commenting on the fictional character. Just as saying no one needs to see an 80-year-old Indiana Jones isn’t a crack at Harrison Ford for reaching 80. Logan was a good example where seeing an old, broken down hero had narrative value. TLJ did a great job with old Luke. Sometimes it works, lots of times it doesn’t.

Yeah nah, calling BS on that one. Consistently inconsistent.

So the defence for the comments is "Everyone does it"?

Double yikes.
You can choose to read things however incorrectly as you like. A throwaway comment that no one wants to see an old and fat Boba Fett doesn’t reveal a secret hatred of old people. I certainly hope no one in this thread referred to Rian Johnson as a moon-faced campaigner lest it reveal their secretly dark heart.

Yeah ok mate don't think that's what happened.

I'm still confused at how Bib Fortuna survived, and I thought Max Reebo was on the ship too.

They were sighted on board Jabba’s sail barge at the beginning of that scene. Can only deduce that they bailed as soon as Luke started to do his thing and when Leia killed Jabba (maybe some kind of small speeder or escape pod style craft that’s on board?).

The sail barge itself was destroyed right at the end of that scene (“get the gun, point it at the deck”). So there was a window of time for anyone who wanted out I guess. I wonder if they took Salacious Crumb with them haha.

Yeah definitely, I'm mildly surprised we didn't get any sense of them escaping but that's not a deal breaker.

It made me think of those old stop motion monsters in movies of old. It was a bit goofey.

That creature just didn’t do it for me. Didn’t like the design or FX. And it didn’t fit in with a desert environment, the whole thing grated on me.

The episode didn’t catch me like ep 1 of Mando but it was solid and I’m still interested to see where it goes. Are we to assume that Fett’s near death experience in the Sarlaac caused to him to go from ruthless, renonwed killer to empathetic, respectful gentleman. It’s been a big character pivot.

Like everyone, glad to see Max Rebo still playing live gigs. If you want to be freaked out, check out the actual character body design, which was obscured in ROTJ. It’s a disturbing body shape.

But your original post didn’t reference his accent, you said you don’t need to see a Kiwi Boba Fett.

If someone said they didn’t need to see a Vietnamese person saving the day in TLJ, I’m sure you wouldn’t have let it slide.
