Brodie demoted from national position

Interesting.

I assume this is due to the Covid situation, in which case it's fair enough that we haven't heard anything, but will wait for clarification.

He’s done fu** but be a yes man for sos since he arrived. Smart move really. He’s next to get sacked imo.

WTF?

Russell attacked by FC (media) for speaking about another teams player (Franklin). Took a backhanded swipe at CFC as well for having him more visible and vocal whereas more suitable to the invisible man at Hawthorn. Went on the attack again for him being at the same training venue as some of our boys during isolation period. Seems like the media are directing attention towards Russell. Watch the space........

Brodie was in the SoS corner (wrong team in the end) and got demoted. Surprised? Shouldn’t, as we know the politics involved with these decisions. Will be gone shortly, no doubt.

Looks like our clubs outspoken positiveness in the last few weeks is being well and truly embraced by the media! Boys better back up their words........

I haven't seen FC, just the grab with Longmire.

You can't win with these idiots. You say nothing or toe the party line - you are boring. You get asked a direct question and you answer it honestly - you get whacked anyway. This reeks of Channel 9 being envious of Fox getting a riveting interview with Russell. Russell is not commenting on some random (say Joe Daniher), but on a bloke he mentored for 9 years.

I think he has opened himself/Carlton up to some potential criticism with the interview as a whole though. He has virtually said "I have got this side fit enough to win games". This certainly throws the onus onto the players and the coaches - Teague in particular.

It was said at his previous clubs that he was very good with the mental side of players preparations, as well as the obvious physical side. It's hard to think he "accidently" increased pressure on the players to perform. He obviously believes the young/not ready/still developing etc. excuses need to be removed from the club psyche.

I like what he has done, but we are going to cop a lot of shit if we are 0 and 3.

Honestly that show ‘FC’ can twist anything too suit their own agenda, once again a lame backhander... Andrew Russell was asked and answered a question about a player he knows very well from his time working with him, he gave his professional opinion on what he would do...
He said he’d be reaching out to him my guess as a friend and on a professional manner most likely to see how he is and offer his support but most likely passing on his opinion which may be of great importance for Buddy himself...
I’ve looked over that interview a few times and can’t see anything that is disrespectful in speaking out of place on behalf of another clubs player...
Players of all clubs and club officials in all capacities regularly talk and are in contact with one another for many reasons...

I hope the story/rumour about Teague talking to players behind bolts back is not true. If it is, then it’s only a matter of time before it comes back to bite him.

Sometimes players will speak to one individual over another, also. It just depends how Teague may have gone about things.
I don't think too much can come back to bite him, as some players were happy to see the back of Bolton and endorsed Teague for coach.

Again, it seemed to me early last year that Teague and Bolton weren't on the same page. This is hardly surprising though.

EDIT: Just read that post. Can say from experience that ex-players aren't always the best conduit to what's really happening at the club.
Purple monkey dishwasher stuff...

What a joke. Our CEO puffs his chest out and tells the members how exciting our list is. Signs Brodie 5 months ago and gives him a pay increase. Because Agresta is vulnerable he demotes Brodie so Agresta is safe. Two list managers doesn’t cut it in the environment. The one person who has brought talent onto our list but also helped build the GWS list is demoted To save Agresta, Cain’s mate. Agresta has never held the National Recruiting position before at any other club. Two juniors head our recruiting department.
The man that sent out a press release about conflict of interest about another employee has plenty of his own!
Chris Judd has gone missing. As a member of the club for over 20 years I’m so concerned with what’s going on after being a believer for the last five years.

This? You're choosing this to rustle your jimmies? A FC bit?

Same old same old, last two or three years lack of communication between club and members still. When rumours do the rounds it's usually months before the club comes forward with the truth. That's my only beef with the club at the moment.

If any of Russell’s comments result in him being driven out of Carlton I will be so upset. Having watched the interview he said nothing wrong. While I don’t think he should be doing regular media spots, I rate him as the best fitness guy in the game so it’s understandable his opinion would be sought - particularly about recently injured players he dealt with for almost a decade.
Not sure if the “accidental” meeting with players in a public place is akin to the Crows situation with Ben Hart, but it could be viewed that way.

When the crows got done for their training indiscretion, the rumour was that multiple other teams had also been breaching AFL directions and that’s why the AFL didn’t come down particularly hard on the crows. Obviously I hope we complied with the rules but I wouldn’t expect much to come of it given that it sounds like half the competition could be guilty of minor infractions during this period.

On FC, they’ve been running two shows per week since the shut down and they’ve got absolutely nothing to fill in their 2 hours per week so they’ll make a big deal out of anything just to remain on air. Sam Edmund on SEN talked for at least half an hour yesterday on the merits of a promotion / relegation system in the AFL so that’s how badly the media is battling to stay semi-relevant. All will be forgotten once the ball is bounced on Thursday week

This idea that clubs, players, coaching staff need to tread on egg shells regarding media, other clubs in order to not provide ammunition or draw attention needs to go away.

The best thing for Russel to say regarding Buddy, Longmire or whatever he said regarding our list, is. I totally stand by my comments, now get lost.

Good on him, if he put the pressure on our list and coach, I also note that Cripps has been saying, the time for excuses is over, I would love a bit more confidence, swagger and honesty from our coaches and players, if that gets a bit of flak, take it and move on.

i thought the interview was really good.

Herald Sun running with a very vague story about a Chas Bromley who was in court for carjacking being given cocaine by older players and Carlton getting a mention? Current Collingwood VFL player and former good junior.

Red card for reading The Hun.

Bromley played TAC Cup football with the Northern Knights before he was invited to train with the Carlton Football Club, the court heard. Bromley – through his lawyer – said he was “encouraged” to socialise with Carlton’s VFL side’s “older players” while at the club. The court heard Bromley was offered cocaine. His lawyer later told Leader it was “reported to him” that the older players gave Bromley the cocaine. Carlton offered Bromley a spot on their VFL list but he opted to play for Collingwood instead.

There's a link to Carlton, but it's not super strong.

I imagine cocaine use is relatively rife at AFL level. And I imagine our culture/professionalism was worse than average back in 2012.

I doubt any team is squeaky clean, but I feel we'd be much better these days.
