There is only one player left on our list that we MUST get rid of, Kane Cornes.

I doubt he'll become a mature player with a positive outlook willing to work his arse off for the club rather than himself.

It's up to him to become a team-man/club-man, rather than a selfish prick wallowing in the minors at Glenelg.

With all the departures, Kane would be feeling quite isolated. Maybe that will cause a shift in his thinking - hopefully for the better.

I must admit, until you mentioned it, I hadn't really thought about it that way. It would certainly be a very different feel for him. You could essentially say he's the last of Choco's crew.

Hopefully Kane finds something and returns to being a valuable cog in our team- but I doubt it.

Kane's parting gift would be a timely dignified retirement to help the club combat next year's GWS raid with freed up $$. If we must, take a leaf out of GWS's book and 'create' an AC role for him for 2013, to move his contract salary off cap for that year. That way it doesn't cost him personally much to make a move. If WC can pay Walsh $400k, we can find a smaller amount to re-position Kane to the off field. He's got to be given a shot this year to re-invent himself, but going into June if it clearly isn't working, why not take a 'deal' like that ?

Pity he doesn't have another parent working in the media in another state - that way he could leave Port and continue to white-ant his new club through the media, using said family member as the 'tool...as he has been doing to Port all year...and in all fairness, Chad's done the same - but Chad was actually a required player.

I think at the end of next year we will cut him. At least then we've had `service' for two-thirds of the contracted period, and he can lead the cleanout that we could've had two off-seasons ago.

Granted, he has struggled to change his game style in the last year, but it would be pretty difficult to change everything you have done for the past 200 and what ever games overnight.

I was curious to hear Gra Gra talking about Kane last night. He said that the club had made it very clear to him what he needed to do to get back in and contribute.

He said he would be a midfielder but not a tagger and that Kane knew what he needed to do and had been working very hard on it.

I think Kane is the kind of guy who will rise to the challenge (even if it is only for personal reasons) and I expect him to be back this year proving a few people wrong.
