This really pretty unfair, as they will most likely be the best team all season and come undone because they wont get a home ground advantage.
Would be great to see Freo win their first, and if their not playing the hawks they have mine, and id imagine most other people support.

Tbh if you can't win because you had to take a plane flight or the ground is slightly different, you didn't deserve to. Hawthorn and Sydney are tough teams that will be hard to beat MCG or not.

Can your players kick goals? That was the problem in the 09 GF.

Come to think of it, it was also the problem in the 2013 GF.

Thats the difference this year, that there is a deliberate attempt on goal scoring. Our midfielders are chipping in this year, to spread the load.

Clearly superior yet the scores were level two thirds of the way into the final quarter.

In 25 words or less and without putting a hyperlink into your post give us a legitimate explanation into your thinking please. And one that a normal person can be arsed reading thanks.

I watched the game, and the Dockers had it comfortably in hand the majority of the time. Pretty simple, really.

I'll state it anyway I damn well like, too. I don't give a shit whether you can be "arsed" reading it, or don't like that I might provide further evidence to back up what I'm saying.

NFI why people feel the need to get personally offended by other people's opinions on football, or manner of expression and discussion. Truly bizarre.

You think a team was clearly superior despite the match being even with 10 minutes to go.

State your case however you like, its a weak one no matter what stats you bring up

The Dockers killed the game in the first ten minutes, and held the Dogs the rest of the way. They weren't pounding on and grinding them into the dirt for the full four quarters, but they showed that they were superior. If they weren't, you would have stopped them from doing what they did in the first ten minutes.

Not sure why some are obsessed with getting more credit for what was ultimately still a loss. Yes, in the end you came close, but you weren't good enough to win.

Also, I'm not bringing up stats. Not sure why you're mentioning something that isn't happening here.

.

The scores were level with 10 minutes to go. You are clueless

Fremantle were clearly superior considering the umpires had to generate half of your team's run on the day. Dogs didn't know how to deal with a tied finishing situation even though they lucked to that position so that last 10 minutes of the game argument you have there is irrelevant to the dominating factor.

Dogs played well, but at no stage of the match was I worried Freo could lose. This year I've found myself certain Freo will win even though opposition teams have been fighting out the game strongly.

The umpiring was fine.

Ross has tweaked the game plan and we got Fyfe.
If Pav and Sandi can get quality chop outs from Tabener and Clarke all season it may be the difference deep in September. You have the mids and the backline, just the front half talls need to keep defenders accountable.

Pre game ross said something to the effect of - We want to get the game in a shoe box and turn it upside down. That's what we won't to do in the forward line at least. That sort of language thrills me.

Window well and truly open.
Not sure how long it will remain open with some of their best players ageing...
But this season is their best chance.
If they finish top 2 might as well lock them into a GF berth.
Our best player is 23 though. Recon he might carry us for a bit after the old blokes leave.

Don't know what game you people were watching, I had that sinking feeling that we'd lose the game with 5 minutes left. Only a few brilliant individual efforts late in the day got Freo over the line.

No. Freo dominated. Even when the Bulldogs were on a roll, that's how Freo meant it to be.

A fair call. The G really is a special place for the GF.

You guys should just get more games there given consistent top 4 finishes.

I was at that game, and even though I was supporting the Dogs it was easy to see that the Dockers never got out of second gear. You always got the feeling that they would take the game regardless, but credit to the Bulldogs for trying all day and taking their chance when Freo got too complacent. It was a very enjoyable last quarter, and Fremantle's final ruthlessness sort of added to that despite my loyalties.

The stats actually present a very strong case of superiority. Smashed in disposals, contested ball, inside 50s, scoring shots. Basically the only thing the Dogs won was the free kick count and tackle count (second to ball, and also it is part of Freo's tweaked gameplan to not tackle as much).

Good conversion is good football, so kudos to the Dogs to kick 14.4 from limited entries. But around the ground in general play, Freo was clearly superior.
