sinn over boak

sinn over boak
Yeah this is what I’m thinking the club will do, but personally I would have Sinn over Boak and Lord over Dixon.

Both could easily happen I think, with Dixon’s fitness a question, also no idea if Finlayson is near the team with his personal stuff.

With Boak on 348 games, I can see them playing him round 1, resting him for the Richmond trip and then bringing him back for his 350th Saturday night against Melbourne. That wing is Sinns to claim now.

I think with Bergman, Burgoyne, Farrell, Sinn and Houston all floating through the team we will have plenty of options to cover those wings.

I would substitute Williams for DBJ. Dixon won’t be fit for round 1 so would go for Finlayson if fit and ready to play.

Pretty good.
I'd personally go Boak to sub, and Sinn to interchange bench.
Williams in on the bench for DBJ.
Jones to wing.
If Dixon is fit AND in form, he is our FF. If either or both those criteria are not met, Lord is FF.
Marshall as our mobile Darren Smith type CHF.
Rioli to forward pocket.

There could be a bit of a tug of war over Miles Bergman at Alberton.
While last month it appeared that the defence had retained the young gun, with new backline coach Tyson Goldsack saying he was “pretty keen to keep” Bergman was on the wing right from the beginning of the Power’s match simulation against Adelaide at Alberton on Friday evening.
Bergman has played there before, that was his position when he broke into the Power’s side and he returned to the wing and kicked three goals in a quarter against GWS in Round 22 last year.
But he was also extremely impressive for the Power in defence in 2023, such as when he curtailed Geelong star Jeremy Cameron in Port’s Round 14 win.
It is this versatility that makes the Power wish it had three Bergmans. Power forward coach Chad Cornes said after the hitout against the Crows that there was plenty to like about a potential return to the wing for the 22-year-old.

“We’ve got such a good selection of high backs and wing is a position we’re still trying to lock in who that is and Miles is a player that can play multiple positions and do it really well,” he said. “We saw last year that he can do real damage on the wing as well as down back. “He’s up for the move so we’re just still experimenting with what the actual line-up looks like but I think he’s one who could fill that wing spot for us because of how versatile he is and the weapons he has.”
Son of a gun Jase Burgoyne started on the other wing for the Power, while veteran Travis Boak spent most of his game time in that position when he came off the interchange bench.

Power senior coach Ken Hinkley has said leadership group member Willem Drew is likely to spend some time on the wing as well in 2024.
He missed the clash against the Crows as he nurses a sore shoulder but is set to return to action for the Power’s pre-season match against Fremantle on Friday.
Jackson Mead might have also given the Power coaching staff something to think about. The father-son built on his strong internal trial showing with an impressive performance against the Crows.
With Drew sitting out Mead also got plenty of time as an inside mid, which Cornes said was reward for a good pre-season.

Round 1 vs West Coast:

Burton. Rat. Zerk-Thatcher.
Houston. Aliir. Williams.

Sinn. Wines. Bergman.

George. Marshall. JHF.
Rioli. Lord. Anastasopoulos.

Soldo. Butters. Rozee.

Boak. Farrell. Drew. DBJ. Jones.

With SPP out, I’m hoping we give Tommy A a go.

I think Boak could be highly effective as a wingman and extend his career.

I can't believe I'm typing that.

If he plays on the wing, I am really keen to see what he can do.

didnt do much last year on the wing
Yeah, he was all over the place, a bit injured, in the middle, on the wing, etc last year

They could give him the role, let him settle and see how he goes.

However, I would prefer to see a player like Bergman, Burgoyne or Sinn take the bull by the horns and take the wing position as theirs.

Was absolutely rocked just before the season started last year in the preseason, the ribs are a prick of a thing to get right. I think he will have a far better year which will lure us into giving him one more and it will be one to many.

Travis Boak will have a good to great 2024.

OK we are almost there and here is my team for Round 1

F Rioli Marshall Horne-Francis
HF Burton Finlayson Georgiades
C Burgoyne Rozee Farrell
HB Houston Aliir Bergman
B Zerk-Thatcher Ratagolea Williams

Ruck Soldo Wines Butters

Int : Boak, Drew, Jones, Lord

I know it won't look like that because I attack the goals

One too many tall forwards.

A lot of people still have Boak in their top 22. If he plays the majority of games we're funked. He is at the back of a long queue to play in the centre. Very ordinary on wing or half forward. Horrendous decision maker. Should be helping younglings develop in the magpies only.

I Strongly disagree with you here. I think he would be serviceable in any of these roles and it’s down to younger players to prove that they deserve the position more than he does. Every team has veterans. His influence has waned as guys like Rozee and butters have stepped up but he is still a very solid player.
