Imagine how good Buddy could be if he played for Hawthorn. With a quality tall like Roughy drawing defenders away so he doesn't get double teamed all game. Rioli setting him up for easy ones in the goal square and the silver service provided by guys like Mitchell, Hodge and Burgoyne. Geez, he could probably kick 100 goals in a season at some point!

I know exactly what he has done. The difference is I am thinking about the situation logically. Yes, I am still hurt he has left the club and am especially hurt at how it all came about.

Having said that I also will pay Franklin his dues for being such an exciting and great player for us over the years... He won two premierships and kicked 100 goals in a season.

In the end he wanted out of Melbourne and not the club per se. So this want for him to fail really doesn't sit well with me.... Some of us supporters are being very precious over this whole thing.

But if you were being offered nearly twice what you were earning for a guaranteed 10 years, when your career could realistically finish in half that time the you would snap their hand off.

Of course he is paid well, but it's relative isn't it?

And then there is the fact he was offered a contract that is not only more then double in length of any one we could possibly offer, it is for nearly twice as much.

I don't blame Franklin or the Swans. I blame the AFL for allowing this to happen, allowing the AFL Swans to have the means to offer such an obscene contact straight after they snagged Tippet for stupid money.
