Reports suggesting Bisping is stepping in to fight Gastelum. Wtf? He had a concussion for sure..

Confirmed.

Balls the size of grapefruits, what a legend.

Him post loss, just as impressive as this.

Reckon if he gets the win, that’s it?

With Aldo now the replacement for main-event fight against Holloway it makes things more interesting in regards to what McGregor does next.

If Aldo wins.....I think we'll get the Aldo Vs McGregor 2 fight at 155.

I've always wanted those 2 to go again. That fight does more business for the UFC than Ferguson/McGregor and it'll appease those complaining about the lack of belt defending from McGregor.

Ferguson fights the winner.

Allowing Bisping to fight Gastelum three weeks after getting stopped by St-Pierre must be getting Mark Hunt even more angry at the UFC.

Even though the fight ended via RNC, he was more or less knocked out before that.

No, he fights Tony when he comes back or should vacate the belt. Aldo winning the title back at 145 doesn't set him up for a title shot at 155 over the interim champ.

McGregor isn't the interim champ....

I'm not saying Aldo should get that opportunity but business is business.

I said it doesn't set him up for a title shot over the interim champ. Ferguson just won the interim belt due to Conor taking a year out to start a family/box.

In my scenario Ferguson's next fight will be for the full belt regardless of who wins.

I think McGregor stops Aldo again and you end up getting the McGregor Vs Ferguson anyways. Why is Aldo getting another title shot against Holloway when he got stopped by him in his last fight? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.....

You're right in saying Ferguson should get the first crack.....he absolutely should.

Aldo wasn't getting another crack, but is now due to injury. Swanson (who Holloway has already beaten), Lamas (who Holloway has already beaten) and Ortega (who's awfully green still) were the only other readily available replacements. Aldo being the former champ and having had some success against Max early makes it the easiest sell.

Why is Ferguson waiting in that your example though? We keep hearing about how Conor could fight anyone in his backyard and do bigger numbers than any other UFC card ever, so why does the opponent matter?

Aldo is ranked 1st in that Featherweight division, will generate the most buys of any other contender but he lost via TKO to Holloway in his last fight. Plus he already got his shot at the belt again against Edgar. Swanson on the other hand is 4th ranked and has never had a shot at the belt.

I know Aldo is filling a spot but its just odd to me his ranking out weighs the fact that he is fighting the guy he just lost to....for the belt. If Aldo wins.....Holloway ain't getting a rematch.

A McGregor main-event gets the UFC 1M ppv buys.......so McGregor Vs Ferguson will get them that magical 7 figure number. But a different dance partner will do better numbers.............ie McGregor Vs Aldo 2 1.5M - McGregor Vs Diaz 3 2M. I'm being generous with those numbers.....McGregor used to have just MMA & casual fans buying....he probably now has boxing fans tuning in to see his next fight.

The problem with Ferguson is that he's only known to MMA fans but not casual fans. His fight with Lee was the one fight this year I was really excited for. The 216 event only did 125,000 ppv buys.........that's ****ing horrendous.

No one knew who Kevin Lee was and the ppv was quite ordinary...Mighty Mouse was on it (great fight) but he doesn't do great numbers either. Derrick Lewis had pulled out as well.
