smile all you like, you were outplayed for most of last years GF yet hold up the cup! Hollow win anyone? :)

I'd rather know i was the best then have a peice of silverware to confirm it!

You can go to sleep knowing you have a piece of metal to add to the cabinet and i can go to sleep knowing the Saints > Geelong 9 times out of 10

So on that logic, the dogs can go to sleep knowing we were the better team in the preliminary final, just not the best divers, while you went on to a grand final loss:rolleyes:

Anyone take into consideration that Saints try slow the game down on a dry day, let alone on a ground covered in mud patches.

Lets talk after a game thats not in dismal conditions.

Geelong's squad selection lost them that game

Totally. Saints will be Premiers no doubts..How good are they..?

No maryjames you have it wrong, the Cats are going to go back to back they are an awesome team. Without six of the best 22 not playing last night they should have won by 10 goals+. Put your house on it(if you have one) they are miles ahead of everyone in the comp at the moment. :)

What's the point of us being a better team under good conditions if we meet St Kilda in September when it's absolutely pouring?

Geelong's attitude was a cause of the loss, but St Kilda was much more effective in carrying out their game plan after half time and they earned the win.

all that matters as far as i'm concerned is that we're up for a bumper finals series

st.kilda have the game plan and team to beat geelong

geelong have the plethora of talent and game plan to beat the saints

and we can't discount collingwood, the western bulldogs and wildcards that include freo, sydney and hawthorn

cant wait

All trolling and jokes aside, and discounting the fact Im a Cats supporter, but does anyone (not including Saints or Cats fans) HONESTLY believe that when it counts, in September, when sides are really up and running, injury management has kicked in, Roo, Ottens etc back, that the Saints can beat Geelong? I really don't. I don't think that they have it in them. Just not good enough. Geelong have made a habbit of winning when it counts in the last 18 months. I reckon that loss to Hawthorn was full of so many lessons for them, and I honestly can't see the Saints getting the job done against them. Obviously Saints supporters won't agree here, but for me, the belief is not there until they actually do it when it counts. They were SO lucky to beat the Dogs last September, and then lost the game they had stitched up in the GF. It's all good to flex ur muscles in June, but I just don't reckon they have it when it counts...

again just throwing something out there, you didnt destroy us in last years grand final

u might argue that we didnt know how to win, which is probably true but with a bit of luck and if a couple of things went the other way we could of won

geelong learnt lessons against the hawks? i think the saints might have learnt a few lessons last year as well

so are geelong beatable, yes, can we beat them, yes, will we beat them, who knows

but if u think the saints havent played and won big games your kidding yourself

and secondly who knows if either of the teams will make the GF, both can be beaten and playing a collingwood or bulldogs in full flight...

we'll see man, thats your opinion, but honestly your not invincible

Saints were the better side for 4 quarters even in the first half. 6 goals 7 to 3 points must be a real worry for Geelong. Saints were better in the grand final too bad kicking kept Geelong in it and then they took their chance at the end.

Although it counts for nothing now, Geelong were better in the second.

lol, clearly trolling but I may as well bite.

You can't expect Geelong to beat any good sides with the following players missing;

- Chapman
- Ottens
- Corey
- Hawkins
- Kelly
- Rooke

Dogs, Hawks, Pies and Freo would have beat us comfortably tonight, as well.

Also, It'd probably be wise to wait until St Kilda beats Geelong when it means something before getting arrogant..
I sure hope you feel the need to apply that liberally to every side that doesn't field their absolute best 22 every week. I'm sure Adelaide early on in the season felt like injuries hurt their season and I am sure Port Adelaide feels like the last few games performances have been hurt by having our better players out. Hawthorn had their entire 2009 season curtailed with injury. Poor Geelong.. poor injury afflicted Geelong.

Given the outs of both sides the Saints won on merit and merit alone.

at least we have some silverware, no matter how we got it.

But the reality is this is not our year, Saints will have all the answers and us at our best will not happen this year. Ottens/Max/Corey/Chappy all regularly injured, and last night even if all were available, I doubt we would have won.

We have peaked and the rest of this year may unfold in an ugly fashion. Our best was against Pies and I'm not sure we can reproduce that. Last year was different; even though we lost against Saints in h&a , we knew that we did win 3 quarters, and got really close, and when we got serious in September, it all worked out. This year, not so sure we can get up and about at will like so many suggest we can.

As I have said ALL YEAR, Saints will play the GF, against???????

Yes you're right, the same Young and Ladson who embarrassed Geelong in 08.

Looking at Geelong's draw and their current spate of injuries I would say they finish second behind Collingwood.

That means they will have to play the Saints again in the first final, and you presume that Saints will win again.

Geelong then would have to play Carlton who thrashed them earlier in the season or Hawthorn who they have never beaten in a final.

Not their year and will probably bow out in straight sets.

Wow. That's a lot of presumption. Hopefully Geelong gets Hawthorn in there somehow.

On tonights effort it appears that the flag like last year is ours to lose rather then anyone elses to win on ability.

To rephrase, Geelong didn't win last years flag, the saints lost it but hopefully not so this year!

Happy knowing the saints are the best team in the league, our third quarter tonight was up to finals standard and Geelong had no answer at all.... sweet!

Hehe, this is the best.

Spot on. They support a team full of downhill skiers, so I guess it's only natural their supporters are the same.

3 points in a half of footy :D

Hmm, yknow I'll take 3 points in a half over missing the finals in '09.

St Kilda were the better side on Friday night, theres no doubt of that. Rather have a wake-up call now then in September.

'Hollow win' LOL this is comedy gold!!

The only 'stats' that matter are the final scores on Grand Final day, the only achievements being the Premiership Flag.

Geelong had 'better' round-the-ground stats than Hawthorn in '08, do you think thats what the players play for and dream about? No, its all about winning the Grand Final any way you can. Hawthorn did it then (congrats), and we did it last year. There is no such thing as a hollow GF win. You kick a bigger score you reap the rewards.

Maybe one day you'll experience it. But hey you don't need silverware, you just 'know' how awesome the Saints are

You mean like when Roo and Gram (equal BOG in the GF) come back in?

Raph was also excellent in most of the finals last year

roo and gram equal BOG in the GF?

how many did pretty boy roo kick? please remind me.......

who has the norm in his cabinet?

you really are a sour bunch of heartbroken losers saints fans, thanks for this thread, its kept me entertained at work all day!

You really would have thought you would have learnt your lesson from last year.......but keep piping up, 85% of football supporters know what will happen if full strength geelong meet full strength saints.

Is there a celebration day down at moorabbin for last weeks win?

Hoping that the loss to you guys has taught us ours, you were able to bottle the dissapointment and use it...

Lots to happen yet, nothing is a given, realising of course just how hard it is to even qualify for a GF spot.

I think you read that wrong, and have got a bit huffy without cause. I think the poster meant Roo (full stop) and Gram equal BOG in the GF.
