Maybe our group of five assistant coaches could share the head coaching duties?

Ratten under Eade?
Ratten under Eade is the only time I would want Ratten here. He may be a half decent coach, he started well at carltank but then they just stopped improving until this year before injury hit hard. I guess he could be an asset in the box just not as head coach.

eade is 100% coming to adelaide for an interview

any rumours about him being ruled out are 100% false

I guess the question is, who is doing the interviewing? Port or Eade? ;)

Eade according to ferret head. Don't ask what the club can do for you, but what can you do for the club. You know what I mean.

The media is so clueless about who is on Port's radar I'm expecting Tony Jewell and Alex Jesaulenko to get a mention soon.

I can't believe Rucci in his desperation to be right hasn't thrown up Jacks name.

Greg Anderson will be next up...

Six weeks ago, Carlton, a club with all the money and resources under the sun, sacked Ratten because he was no good; a failure and yet, we are seriously considering this bloke? You have got to be kidding! If we get Ratten, we are destined for the compost heap.

KT has come out previously and said that he and the other members of the selection panel are not so much interested in the presentations prospective coaches give. Instead, they are keen to use a series of scenario based assessments (I'm guessing at a couple of list management scenarios, possibly a couple of game day scenarios) to see how the candidate uses their skill base and knowledge to respond to novel situations (Neil Craig need not apply).

Candidates can present on their list understanding and vision all they like, but throwing them in the deep end with scenarios would test them considerably. Given the limited evidence I've seen on "coaches corner" I'm not sure we did anything remotely similar during the process which resulted in the appointment of Primus.

Additionally, while referees are important when getting a job anywhere, I think that the media is reading too much into the "Hinkley because Harley likes him", "Ratten and Cameron because Parkin has been involved with Carlton and Hawthorn" bs. I have faith that if the process is right, then Port will get the best available coach.

KT has shown that he's got other aspects of being an AFL club CEO right, I have confidence that the process the club is going down this time will probably be better than it was last time, and hopefully that translates to a result that we can all be happy with.

I've been one of the most negative posters here (I call it realistic) in the past, but to be honest I'd be happy with either of Eade or Ratten. We need someone from outside the club and with senior coaching experience. If these two want to be considered, then I'll happily trust KT and his offsiders on this one.

they sacked ratten because they wanted malthouse, sure he didn't do great but he didn't do too bad either, ratten is not my first choice in fact he'd be about fourth or fifth but if it's him they choose through the processes they have in place then i guess i'll live with it

Spot on. Ratten isn't my preference but if the selection committee select him so be it. I trust KT.

Valid point...was the coach being the story an issue in the past..although in Adelaide how do you escape it ? theres only 2 teams and a media that clings to anything they thing they can sell... The best bet is to have a coach that knows how to handle a media....if handles the right word....both Eade and Ratten have shown themselves to be outstanding in that regard...

I dont think Ratten's your answer either. The guy couldnt succeed with a blank checkbook in his pocket, imagine what he would be like if he was working on a budget. I suppose the only two in that list that have experience on a budget are Eade and Laidley but I doubt they want to coach again.

I wish Paul Roos was on the market, I reckon he'd be perfect for you guys. Has been involved with lowly ranked clubs (Lions and Swans) before and knows how to take a club to the top.

What I don't understand is that Ratten advocates are arguing that Carlton were poorly resourced off-field and so Ratten didn't actually have a black chequebook and was similarly hamstrung like Primus (although not to the extent of having Skype coaches).

How come we never heard about this before Ratten was fired?
