It's been used about 2008 since the day it happened. If it's accepted Bay lexicon, the same can be said of your 2012 win, where the better team kicked themselves out of it. Except of course in 2008 Hawthorn were by far the better team for three quarters.
And 2012 doesn't really sting that much anymore: it was the motivation to win the threepeat, and the Syds were humiliated in the process. And it seems your team still isn't over it.
