The 'available for selection' line becomes a pretty obvious hint then, wouldn't be suprised at all if he's in. We seem to rush him back every time though, which tends to be a detriment to both him and the side.

Wonder if they're thinking of making him sub and just nursing him back in with the lack of a VFL game?

For us on the outside it feels like a big test of the management. He was the first and main one we mucked up last year.

Also, as much as I'm keen to have him back, it's not like we're only playing McVee, Rivers, Bowey just for the sake of it.

Could see him being sub, but we've got coverage in his spot so no need to rush. Do some match sim stuff on the weekend, play VFL next week and go from there.

Love Salem but also he's a very pleasant argument for a mid-season trade window, McVee looks nice and snug in our backline I think.

MFC social media team making a post about him being available for selection seems like a reasonable hint he might come straight in.

Agree with the sentiment he should go through VFL first though.

In an injury interrupted season, the eye test said that Salem’s output was far worse last year than in 21 - the stats confirmed it in that he went from average 25 disposals in 2021 to 17 in 22. He also dropped from averaging 5.71 rebound 50s in 21 to 2.85 in 22.

Ideally he’d come back through the VFL but given that Casey have a bye there’s every chance they pick him. What impact he has says a lot about how our selection/player management this year is tracking. Id like to see how goes further up the ground this year or even around the ball, a guy with his skills could give our midfield/F50 entries more bite and with Brayshaw, Bowey, McVee and Rivers further behind the ball we can afford to trial this sort of experiment.

We don't need Salem right now. If he gets selected what does that say to the other guys who have been performing? Get him fit and in form in the VFL and then see if there's a spot for him.
