MRO said there was high contact (i.e. to the head) so I can only imagine there is another angle as you couldn’t possibly make that determination off that footage.Hard to tell much from that. Was Day concussed?
I don’t think that matters as much with dangerous tackles. Pretty ludicrous call from the MRO if that is the only footage of the incident.Hard to tell much from that. Was Day concussed?

Logically, the AFL should release the footage then. But, there’s a chance there is footage and they don’t release it because they don’t want the scrutiny/transparency. Additionally there’s an equal chance there is no footage because they are incompetent/corrupt.MRO said there was high contact (i.e. to the head) so I can only imagine there is another angle as you couldn’t possibly make that determination off that footage.
Don’t believe Day was concussed. Nothing in the injuries from the match report. But they are punishing the act irrespective of the outcome now so it won’t matter that Day wasn’t concussed.
We take it to the tribunal and Jeff Gleeson states: “although Day had his arms free and there is no footage of the severity of the impact on the ground and no rules have ostensibly been broken; that lack of evidence also means that a rule could have been broken and we also accept the AFL advocate’s case that Sparrow yelled out ‘purple monkey dishwasher’ and that wasn’t very nice so one week it is.”I'd enjoy it if we challenged it all the way up to the appeals board again, even if just to piss the MRO off
Maybe he would've been likely to pickup Butters.?Interesting he was cited given the vision doesn’t really show what happened. Maybe another angle is available?
Hardly the end of the world with the team’s depth in that midfielder/flanker position.
I agree with this on principle that a relatively stationary tackler has a lot more control over how they bring an opponent to ground compared to Sparrow who was falling to ground himself, but we know that argument won’t hold up.There's no way to get him off that under this year's adjudications, but if you look at the way Sparrow chases and then is falling to the ground when he tackles there was literally no other way to make that tackle. He dives to make the tackle and pulls him down, his only alternative is to just let him go, which judging by the AFLs comments during tribunal hearings is basically what they'd be happy to see.
I really don't think it's reasonable to treat tackles when you're chasing and diving with full momentum the same as tackles when you're standing and have the player wrapped up.
With the rate he’s losing his hair, hopefully he’s not bald by the time we see him on the field again.
Petty out for the dreaded 426
Wow. I am really surprised on this one, after seeing him discussing injury during the game at the bench, and on his mobility after game and at medical scanners.
Petty out for the dreaded 426
Ouch. Bad news.

It kinda seems like Day let's the spin happen to get the handball out the back, like he's starting to turn and let's the tackle push him round? Or maybe that's me trying to find excuses for Sparrow.I agree with this on principle that a relatively stationary tackler has a lot more control over how they bring an opponent to ground compared to Sparrow who was falling to ground himself, but we know that argument won’t hold up.
Actually impressed Sparrow could get that much force through the tackle given his position. He must be very strong in the upper body.
