I said i dont mind playing at Kardinia Park, thats not nice to get angry someone being amicable

And i put a positive spin on playing big games at the G for what its been worth so far, i dont make the rules

I am not angry, just pointing out that the reason you are happy about the situation is that it benefits Collingwood. Over the years we hear all sorts of interesting statements from Pies fans to avoid admitting that they get a great ride out of this every year.

You seem to know how people think, even though they tell you different,it's like you get off calling people liars.

I couldn't give a rats if we go to Geelong every year, am I lying also?

Right. Who said anything about lying? See ya.
1st of all you said you weren't angry, see, we can all play your game.

When someone says something and you think they don't mean it,that is a way of calling them liars, all these Collingwood supporters telling you stories, just so they don't have to admit they don't get a great ride hey?

Well I believe, playing Geelong at the MCG every year benefits Geelong also.
You get to play the MCG quite a bit, you could call the MCG, the place where the GF is played, your second home ground.

But of course, I bet that would be hard for you to admit wouldn't it?

Anyway, Collingwood supporters I know, wouldn't care if we went to Cat park to play, we don't make the rules you know, the AFL do.

Mate there’s a whole handful of teams that actually DO play their home games at the MCG. If we just played them there half the time, like any normal draw, we’d still get a normal amount of exposure to the MCG.

Hang on a sec, are you agreeing that the MCG is your 2nd home ground?

1. The afl has made it our home ground, officially. Second or not.
2. No, read what I wrote. How the hell you drew that conclusion is anyone’s guess. There are what, 5-6 teams?? that officially use it, who we would play there against regularly in a normal draw if we only played them at the MCG every second time we played them. It’s not like we’d show up there for a final and not know where we are. ‘Oh f*** we only had three games here this year, those away games against Melbourne, Hawthorn and Richmond. How will we cope.’

You said teams that play "home games" at the G, as far as I know, Geelong is one of them teams.

Now #1. "The afl has made it our home ground"

I would say that would make Collingwood v Geelong games fairly neutral, wouldn't you say?

I don't know for sure, but maybe the AFL just think the MCG would fit more supporters in having it at the MCG, if supporters like you think it's a neutral ground, what is so wrong with that?

Anyway, send us down to the cattery, if it make you all happy.

If Richmond and Hawthorn are being sent down there, Collingwood & Carlton should too.

It’s actually a joke the Pies haven’t had to play us at our actual home ground since 1999, but that’s the AFL for you.
The Cats are just lucky. Not sure why their coach and fans keep whining.

Yep. The Cats have the biggest advantage of all clubs in the AFL, yet they constantly whinge about not having a big enough advantage.
A few of them don't know what they are talking about, take last years fixture.

If Geelong played Collingwood in Geelong, then the AFL just move the Collingwood v Brisbane game to the MCG, the AFL have a contract with the MCC for Collingwood to play x amount games there.

Good point. We keep running into you guys in finals when we are best primed for a premiership tilt. Advantages don’t come much bigger than that.
Why are you just talking about finals?

As far as I know, you have a better win % at the G than Collingwood, Collingwood have better win % in Geelong, yet many say it's us with the leg up.

Spot on.

Geelong has a 67% winning record against Collingwood in away finals this century and a 100% winning record in neutral finals this century. As fun as it would be to throw a true home final into the mix, it's just fine the way it is.

Here is the reason Victorian clubs might be a bit annoyed….

Geelong get 9 x home games with probably the greatest home ground advantage of any team as it’s a ground rarely played at and it’s a weirdly shaped ground unlike any other. They are the only Victorian team that enjoys a huge home ground advantage over other Victorian teams.

Then they get another 7-8 games at the MCG and Marvel …. grounds where they suffer minimal disadvantage as they play their all the time, get good crowd support and other teams don’t train on those grounds.

Then they get a bunch of interstate games like other Vic teams.

Imagine the Pies retained Victoria park and played 11 games at Vic Park, 7 games at the MCG, and 5 games interstate. It’s a ticket to finals and top-4 every season.

Geelong always have a large H&A advantage over other teams, so giving them 11 home games just exacerbates that advantage.

Of course Geelong fans want this. Their H&A advantage is probably worth 1-2 wins per season which is hugely significant in ladder position leading into finals.

Thanks for that, we’d only read it a million times before.

Allow me to reply the same way we have a million times before.

We are the only club that plays home games, away from our home, on the other team’s home ground, in their home city, which is not our home city.

As long as we are doing that, your point is utterly irrelevant.

When people pop out this ‘but but but you host home games at the MCG so you get more familiar with it so that gives you an advantage over other teams’ sewerage - do they think that playing 4-5 games there is some infinitely better set-up than playing 3-4 games there?

There are 9 teams in Melbourne. 9 of them. Whether we are playing on those grounds as an away team or a faux ‘home’ team, we’re GOING TO KNOW THOSE GROUNDS WELL.

It’s not as though if we went to 11 games at KP, we’d get to an MCG final and suddenly Tom Stewart would look around and go ‘well f***en hell I didn’t realise that part of the ground existed in the four away games I played here this year, I needed a couple of relocated home games as well to get me f**ken bearings.’

How ridiculous.

Geeze mate, that sounds like a melt to me.
I am only responding because a few of your lot think we have a leg up playing Geelong at the G.

I really couldn't care less if we played them at the G or Geelong, I pointed out we have a better record at Geelong, but IMO the AFL play it at the G because more people fit in, I may be wrong though.

‘You sweared in a post so you iz melt.’

Doesn’t work that way mate.

It’s me pointing out a pretty common sense reality. I genuinely don’t really care too much about the Collingwood side of things. I do give a shit about us giving up home games to play them on other team’s home grounds.

All Vic sides do it, so cry me a river, why should Geelong be different.

You actually sound very selfish, more people fit in at the G, so more supporters get to watch the bigger clubs live, but you would rather they miss out.

Brisbane are begging the AFL to play more games at the MCG. Cats fans seem to complain about it. Not only do they get 9 home games, they also get to play on the G which gives them a huge advantage over interstate teams who don’t get the same opportunity.

And Pies, Tigers, Demons etc all play ‘homes’ games at neutral grounds. For example, Cat fans do understand Collingwood playing a ‘home’ game against Richmond is also at their home ground? Or is that a little difficult to comprehend?

You know they would be whining if they played home games in Geelong and only 1 or 2 at the MCG…..
