The Judd Bitterness scale

For teams challenging for the flag in 08 (except WCE) the Judd move is a big win.
1. WCE are severely weakened (more than they think) for 08.
2. Pies aren't strengthened - good for hawks cats and others
3. Hawks aren't strengthened - good for cats, pies and others
4. Blues aren't going anywhere fast anyway

Not bitter just more disappointed than anything.

Seriously over it !! Will be tough watching Judd play his first game for the Blues though..

But seriously WC will be fine maybe better. Carlton will still be bottom half of the ladder for the next couple of years...

I am very jeleous of Carlton supporters at getting Judd. People are foolish to say that if they had the chance to get him, even at that price, they wouldn't have jumped at it (I'm an Essendon supporter fwiw). He is still in the top 2 or 3 (if not #1) midfielder in the competition and probably justifies the price tag.

Still i very much dislike Judd over how he has handled this whole affair. He clearly didn't want to go home to Melbourne, he clearly wanted more money and to be extremely picky over which club he went to. I suppose its fair enough to have a certain amount of self-interest but really he has screwed WC over royally and i have lost all respect for him now.

I keep reading this sort of dribble in lots of different threads so will someone please enlighten me how Judd has "screwed" WCE!
In my view he has handled himself very professionally, as he seems to have done in every other aspect of his career.
1. He has told WCE that he is returning to Melbourne, and explained the reasons. Can't find any problem with that.
2. He has had discussions with Carlton. During those discussions he would have been told that Carlton would not give up the No.1 to get him, and he would not have wanted them to. WCE would have know that the No.1 was never going to be on the table. can't find any problem with that.
3. The manager announces his preference and Judd then gets out of the way while the respective administrations hammer out a deal. WCE got the best deal they could. On sober reflectuion surely everyone can see that that was as good a deal as WCE could hope to get from any of the melbourne Clubs. can't find any problem with that.

So how has Judd "screwed" WCE?

As for the money, any Club was going to offer squillions, including Collingwood don't you worry. Indeed they might have offered more than Carlton anyway but we will never know. The whole point was Collingwood didn't have the draft picks and were never in the hunt.
And so the dreadful elements of Magpie supporters (the minority) behaved like idiots suggesting all sorts of silliness - mindful of the little boy who is miserable about the nice new bike he got from santa just because a kid down the road got a better bike and it had a bell on it.

Carlton have got a booby-dazzler of a bike, with lots of gears, and its got a bell which goes DING!
And i hope he gets number 10 - remember Johnny James!

that ladder of Gandaal's is his prediction of next year. Notice where he put Carlton!! Geelong fans will be pissed!! :p

:D :D :D

Essendon are too high.

Iv'e seen little bitterness from them, in fact more support came from them in the form of attacking Pies stooges.

It's the old my enemies enemy is my friend (even if it's only on this occasion).

It evens out pretty much after Melbourne. The first 1-5 were extremely bitter (some with good reason, some not), the rest weren't too bad for the most part.

I agree.. Glad he did not go to the Pies or a team that will be push for the finals in the next 2-3 years

Which group of bigfooty supporters has been the most bitter about the whole Judd going to Carlton situation?

Ranked from 'Frothing at the mouth' to 'I've got better things to worry about'
Is there an option for football isn't my life so I don't have to make up polls that justify my existence?

As a pragmatic hawks supporter I can say that this bitterness thingy doesn't cut with me.

Sure, I would have loved Juddy in brown & gold (assuming the cost was not prohibitive). But in the end he only wanted to deal with 4 clubs and the best result (from Hawthorn's point of view) eventuated - he settled for the weakest on field club.

Collingwood would have been the worst result for us.

yea, i would love collingwood to use 25% of their cap on one player

going to be fun in 2 years :D

Yes because the reports put out are privvy to the amount he's receiving.

When they say "on a reported 6 million over 5 years" they actually mean we have no idea we are only guessing.

I (like most Crows supporters) don't like West Coast much but I can't blame 'em for feeling betrayed by Judd. Carlton are doing a St Kilda trick of a few years back: tank like hell, get priority picks and then buy star players. Oh well, it didn't get them very far :thumbsu:

Here's hoping he never recovers from his injuries and that Fevola gets "involved" with Rebecca Twigley

FFS what is Carlton's obsession with signing their star players for such long, expensive contracts: didn't they learn from the Kouta and Whitnall debacle? Obviously not it seems but then again we're talking about the club that used pick 4 for Luke Livingstone a few years back :D

Much too rational for BF.

I see your point and find it hard not to agree with you. I have come to terms with the trade and now look forward to what youngsters we might pick up and that Kennedy can fulfil his potential.

Then I just want to call Judd names for leaving us. w***er.

Watch out for a mass outbreak of tourettes when Carlton next play at Subiaco.

Sadly the moronic element in a members-only , sold-out crowd will ensure that happens, in the crowd. . However, on the field, that silliness will be balanced somewhat by the interactions between Judd and his former team-mates after the siren. That is when you will see dignity, class and appropriate sportsmanship from all concerned.

Haha, would've been nice to see some of that during trade week...

I hope you're wrong about the crowd bit, but alas I think there will be a bit of hostility directed at Judd.

Your right about the teammates - from what I've seen they're still on pretty good terms with Judd.
