In the minds of younger people it will be "the LNP offers nothing for me"

Housing and climate (which looks like it'll ramp up again in the next 6-18 months) are far and away the big two issues fo the aspirational young professionals they'd have traditionally adopted.

We've known this for some time now, and both they and the feds are doing **** all to even engage on these issues.

That time you couldn’t walk 50 steps in camberwell without seeing another poster of him

I guess he never saw the irony of plastering his posters in the windows of all the shops, and at least one bank, which had closed down under his watch as treasurer.

This is absolutely not how our Government is supposed to run. Everything wrong with politics in this country in three text messages.
a)cruelty
b)media manipulation
c)Dept Head liaising with political power-broker
d)"rant about this family" is one of the great disgusting statements of our time.

At least three things will happen before he resigns
  • The APS Commission will decide he's been naughty but not bad, and not punishable
  • Agreement on his payout
  • Agreement on his new private industry board sinecures (but these ones won't be announced until later)

Michael Pezzullo To Start New Role at PwC Next Week

Disgraced public servant Michael Pezzullo has stood down from his role as Home Affairs Secretary and will work as a partner at accounting firm PwC while an investigation into his conduct takes place.

PwC said Pezzullo, who is accused of misusing his role to influence Government decision-making, will fit right in at the firm. “Michael has a proven track record in misunderstanding the words ‘confidential’, ‘impartiality’ and ‘honesty’. We’re looking forward to sharing his classified Government information with our clients,” a spokesperson said.

Disclosure: I worked for Louise until just before her press release on the fall.

While there is really no defence for the pursuit of the "truth" of the fall, Staley is totally not a "Qooker" as you suggest. IMO her chances in North East Metro will be slim, but she's more talented and reasonable than many currently in the party room.

Didn't have a rich Qooker history, but maybe one Qooker idea is enough?

More insidious is her support for increasing casualisation of the work force via the HR Nicholls Society and their opposition to everything about trying to make jobs safer and secure and stop businesses skirting around hard-fought employment rights. At least in this fight, there's a neo-liberal logic to it.

In June 2023, The Australian Financial Review reported that Staley had been engaged to revive the infamous H. R. Nicholls Society, a right-wing troglodyte think tank, to "support growing business opposition to Labor's upcoming laws to regulate gig workers, labour hire and casual employment".
