The Lid: Where is it?

So, according to melbournefc.com.au, Bails is keeping a lid on things.

Wouldn't expect anything else from Bails, but what do you guys think?
Are we a finals chance in 2010?
I believe if we play with the intensity we did tonight, we can make the final 8.
Or am I looking through rose coloured glasses?

Is the lid on or off?????

Yeh bugger that - Im with SMD.. Ive torn the lid off and sent it flying across the room!! PREMIERS 2010!

(ps - ill put it back on when North smash us next week )

I wouldn't go that far but... would be lying If I wasn't weary and worried about next week. I do have faith but, anything can happen and I'd hate to see us lose after being so good as of late.

Especially when I'm actually at the game. Last one I went too was against the Hawks in Round 1, and we all know how that turned out

We have to expect that being a very young team there are still some beltings in our future. But as long as they continue to play with the passion, intensity and agression they are at the moment we just might be a little bit more ahead in our rebuild than we all expected/hoped for.

And if the youngsters start to flag a bit hopefully we have some others waiting in the wings to pick up the mantle (Aussie, Jurrah, Morton, Watts, Strauss, Cheney, Blease Jetta Gysberts etc). Even some old hands waiting in the wings (Rivers and just to get some riled up - Miller time). Also how long term is the injury to Tapscott ?? Season ??

After 3 years of peltings damn its great to be competitive and on the winners list again.

DL.

Best you watch from afar, just in case....:D

It wasn't he fact that you beat the lions by 50 who were in all fairness pretty ordinary, it was the way Dees did it - taking the risks, super offensive transition, open F50, first class man-man defence ( Warnock/Frawley in particular ). If this can be delivered with regularity the lid should be well & truly off. I hate watching teams like Saints, Swans 05- 09 play- you know sideways movement, tempo control etc. Down the corridor and fast is the way to win footy games if you have got the skills. Well played Dees..great show!!

It may be worth putting the lid on with regards to playing finals, even though that is now a possibility. But it doesn't mean that Melbourne fans shouldn't be getting excited about their team this year.

The simple fact is that Melbourne are doing better then many people expected. I was expecting Melbourne to have won 1 game by now or possibly 2. Melbourne has won 3 games comfortably and unlucky not to have 4 games with that 1 point loss to Collingwood.

Not disagreeing with you but i think if the tigers had just beaten the undefeated lions by 50 points on their way to their first 3 wins in a row in 4 years, you would have blown the lid off well and truly by now..

The lid should at the very least be slighter ajar! We are performing well above expectations. No one, not even myself, expected us to get up against the Lions last night but this team is in form and has a strong sense self of belief and Bailey is responsible.

Baileys asking the young players to take the game on and play on at all cost is coming together beautifully. We are playing attractive, aggressive footy and if this intense, ferocious tackling game can be maintained in weeks to come, there is no reason we can't start thinking about finals.

After sticking through years of pain and turmoil off-field dare to dream about our young players getting finals experience in their first and second years!

Great win for the Dees. I really like the free-wheeling style of play Bailey has the team using (as a Geelong man i am a bit biased on that, of course). It is great to watch.

Obviously your list is still very young and inexperienced, so consistency will be a problem. I don't see the Demons making the finals this year, but patches of wins like this are a glimpse of things to come in future seasons. All the best for the remainder of 2010.

whats with you guys??

we are not the loosers we once were. our team is playing as a team! we are efficent with all our movements, we arent stumbling around in anxiousness like last 3 years, and melbourne is starting to show some balls... it seems as if a new "beleif system" is appearing, no longer do we see ourselves as young and incompetant, rather willing and capable. beleif is everything, and it seems something has triggered off beleif in these guys.

I think the lid is just about protecting ourselves - we've suffered a lot over the years. I think most of us are delighted by what we are seeing, just a bit cautious about expecting too much. Anyway, it doesn't matter as long as the players believe in what they're doing, that's what matters.
