Strong contestExplain to me how Ben Brown would do any better than JVR is with the way we deliver the ball into the forward line
Basically we’re now in a situation where if the opposition ramps up the pressure we are extremely vulnerable. Because we don’t seize scoreboard momentum when we have it and look ropey as **** when the midfield get beaten and the ball hits the deck in the D50.Super frustrating loss. Had plenty of opportunities to put them away or build a comfy lead in the 3rd but wasted it. Great pressure and workrate died at the 3QT siren.
Frustrating tactically. Let them burn us out the back very easily all game. Some good signs from McVee, Riv, Salem and Viney but outweighed by the s**t.
Aside from Oliver and Bowey this is basically our best 22 we can put out. I feel we have the talent but wasting it with turgid, dumb play. Looks like a chore for the players to work through and for us to watch.
To me an ugly is what the coaches are doing with petty. He's a backman then he starts playing forward, he gets injured, he returns and plays back. Then late in the game they decided hey let's try petty forward. I get in the game okay try something though it was too late but the fact our forwardline is still getting tinkered with at this stage of the season is quite concerning.
Just curious, Ben Brown on $500,000 a year but playing in the VFL.. what's the go? JVR has shown some promise but looks a bit tired..
Averaging 3 goals/senior game thus season.
It's pretty simple isn't it.Don't take me for a Smith fan either. I think he's a complete potato, with zero football smarts - but he has some athleticism to add pressure.

Modern footy is pressure. We're 7 points up against the Cats with a quarter to play then our pressure drops and we lose.
Brown plays, and we're down 7 points with a quarter to play because he does nothing to help us lock the ball in, which is literally our gameplan.
Reminds me exactly how we ****ed Brad Millers development. To me an ugly is what the coaches are doing with petty. We're 3rd on the ladder with a very high percentage. This then also must be on Goodwin. You're arguing for the sake of it now. The point is we are way less than the sum of our parts & that's on Goodwin.
I think Brown will be back in by mid July.Just curious, Ben Brown on $500,000 a year but playing in the VFL.. what's the go? JVR has shown some promise but looks a bit tired..
At a guess, it might be that some are having their jets cooled, to help them be motivated to get the call of duty.Just has his 100,000 k service , or serously had fluid drained off a knee . Time will tell if Goodwin recalls him .

Tinkered with because of injuries to TMc, and BBB. And the rise of the smalls. To me an ugly is what the coaches are doing with petty. No doubt Goodwin will give Brown a run sooner or later .At a guess, it might be that some are having their jets cooled, to help them be motivated to get the call of duty.
TMc is as close to cooked imv, as anyone could get. But might yet be useful.
A lot of our premiership players are struggling for their best form.
Some are just playing safe footy. Have lost the sharp edge.
Langers, Gawn, Pickett, Fritsch, BBB, TMc, Harmes, Sparrow, Brayshaw,
Maybe Langers needs a rest with Casey, while Woewodin has a run.?
Maybe Brayshaw as well.
Initially yes but I think we had settled with jvr/petty before petty got injured. Petty returned and played back then was forward again at the end of the game.Tinkered with because of injuries to TMc, and BBB. And the rise of the smalls.
We are caught between with young players, and senior players straggling with their bodies.
The way I see it is we are too flippant at moving the ball on... when we posses the ball under pressure, we are all too willing just to flip off a handball without using our bodies to get in a better position, from where we can get a better handball off. The same with a trickling little kick forward, from within a pack.Super frustrating loss. Had plenty of opportunities to put them away or build a comfy lead in the 3rd but wasted it. Great pressure and workrate died at the 3QT siren.

What is BBB specifically going to do within our current setup that will help us? He doesn't have the strength or athleticism of JVR or Smith to contest when we bomb it high and long to a group.
We can start to kick into our F50 from the centre-wing position, allowing our forwards to lead out high to around 40 to 60 Mtrs. Moving from boundary line entries restricts our forwards abilities too much.He requires space to lead and for our mids and half forwards to hit him lace out in space. If our team can suddenly start doing those things he might actually be of value.
From my memory of it our defenders got sucked up the ground often in the last Qtr, exposing Maysie out with Rohan. This helped the Cats to win.Modern footy is pressure. We're 7 points up against the Cats with a quarter to play then our pressure drops and we lose.
I think they/we were experimenting with setups, rather than settled.Initially yes but I think we had settled with jvr/petty before petty got injured. Petty returned and played back then was forward again at the end of the game.
Doesn't really matter if the team was settled or not, Petty had been forward since round 3, he got injured but that's where he was playing. Then they bring him back from injury and play him back. The thing is I thought our backline looked pretty settled with Tomlinson so there's that as well. Anyway I suppose we took a while to settle in 2021 as well.I think they/we were experimenting with setups, rather than settled.
I think the plan has always revolved around BBB. + who else. But now we have to settle the tall structure, so we can organise our smalls to suit them.
