lol. I feel triggered just reading that :)

Still cannot for the life of me understand why Melbourne didn’t chase Lobb as steak knives in the Jackson trade. Would have been a much better fit than Grundy and likely would have got you over the line in at least one of your finals last year.

yeah I'm not sure. he seemed like he wanted to go to the dogs, for God knows what reason

I recon Melbourne didn’t want to lose their bargaining power. Lobb was in contract and Freo probably would have tried to keep the future first. Grundy the cheaper option in theory but too similar to Maxy.

Rory Lobb was offered a contract at the Dogs that will have him 32 years old before he has played a game in the second half of his deal. That's why.

i can - he doesn't compete hard enough for long enough and his lack of second, third efforts would have driven goodwin, lamb, and taylor away from him

grundy was a free swing that didn't come off; paid little to get him, let him go for about the same

i personally thought we'd give gawn / grundy another year, but those in the know know better

Nothing is more embarrassing than 1 full year of Freo fans trying to tell me that Jackson 'had shown nothing', 'was potential only', 'only a 2nd ruck' and complaining about coughing up draft picks for him. And not even a pick in the top 6 for him. Freo was always going to win the trade but it just showcases how little they understood his talent at the time.

And dees were lucky Freo had a down year last year otherwise Freo fans were complaining about not coughing up a pick in the top 10 for him.

Jackson is a jet and fully justified me wanting 3 first rounders for him and 2 in the top 10 despite being laughed at at the time.

I had the last laugh. And the last tear :)
Jacko wasn't as good at Melbourne and it was mainy potential though...so you can't blame the dockers of wanting to give up 3 picks then. His game has gone to another level now.

Melbourne's forward entries in 2022 were so bad I genuinely thought Jackson had zero forward craft. He's not Carey but he's a much better forward than was obvious (to me at least) back then.

He didn't have much forward nous back then, his hands were quite stone-like at times. He's simply developed as everyone knew he would, none of this isn't what was expected.

yes he was. he was just stuck behind Gawn that's all. Embarassing that freo fans didn't watch enough of his games before complaining about coughing up the necessary picks.

Come on Danster. He was dropping quite a few marks and was no where near as consistent at Melbourne as what he is now.

Pretty ridiculous to say Jackson hasn’t improved at Freo. Put it down to natural progression if it helps your ego. Far better player now than he was in 2022, as are most of the 2019 crop.

Sean Darcy in the ruck tapping to Luke Jackson. Yes.

I'm happy to concede he's improved that stuff, but you guys were constantly kicking deep to pockets where there were like 6 tall players for every contest. Carey would have struggled to stand out with that delivery.
