I didn't follow the other groups, but two top teams were eliminated in China and Sth Korea. Apparently the 1-1 draw they had was the worst result for either team. China won the last Asia cup where Australia was eliminated by South Korea.

Don't know what the Uzbekistan team is like. I remember watching a bit of a men's junior comp held there earlier this year or last year - was it the Olyroos? The Uzbek crowd gave the home team incredible support.

Winner of Japan vs North Korea will be the other Asia confederation Olympic team.

Wiki page was pretty quick in getting the final tables up.

How blessed are we , when Sam decides to pull the plug , we have Mary . A player who just oozes class . She is just a generational player .
Mary is only 20, has elite skills on both sides and strikes the ball with power despite minimal back swing. She was the star of the series for me and she still has so much upside. Exciting times ahead.

And as a Parramatta NRL fan, I hope she takes her new boyfriend to England with her, a decade in the Super League would be great. For me. :D

Cleary?

We've got a window of a few years where Kerr is still one of the best players in the World and where Fowler is getting close to being what Kerr is now. And not forgetting Foord who has been the best performing Matilda for over a year now.

Hopefully when Kerr steps away she will spend a year or two with our womens footy team. Wouldnt be without a chance.

She'll be around for World Cup 2027 and probably 2028 Olympics. That would be about it then at 35. Maybe some AFLW appearances then? I expect the last few years of her Matildas career will be spent playing A League Womens. By then there will be some pretty big contracts on offer here.

For the upcoming friendly games against Canada on Dec 2 and Dec 6, Holly McNamara and Aivi Luik have been added to the Matildas squad as well as an upgrade for Charlize Rule who was a train-on player with the recent squad of players that played in the Olympic qualifiers in Perth.

They replace Alex Chidiac (omitted) and Courtnee Vine (hamstring). Vine doesn't seem to be a long term injury as she's been named in Sydney's FC's squad for their game on Sunday.

Matildas squad: Sam Kerr (captain), Mackenzie Arnold, Teagan Micah, Lydia Williams, Ellie Carpenter, Steph Catley, Charlotte Grant, Clare Hunt, Alanna Kennedy, Courtney Nevin, Clare Polkinghorne, Charlize Rule, Kyra Cooney-Cross, Katrina Gorry, Emily van Egmond, Amy Sayer, Aivi Luik, Clare Wheeler, Tameka Yallop, Caitlin Foord, Mary Fowler, Holly McNamara, Hayley Raso.

Sounds like Chids hasn't been getting much gametime in Mexico

Potential move for Gustavsson. Will please some if true.

Pretty torn on this.
Would hope Sweden don’t hire him, given how overrated he is. However FA can move forward and actually hire someone with respect to the women’s game as well as maximising the potential of the current generation.

Saturday's game is 2.30pm AEST (7.30pm Friday Vancouver time - 19hr time difference) and the Wednesday game at 2pm AEDT.

They'll have big home crowds as Canada are farewelling 3 retiring players from their 2021 Olympic Gold Medal team, notably their 40yo all-time leading goal scorer Christine Sinclair. On Nov. 18 they announced that the tickets for the 2nd game were at over 35,000 sold.

All the first choices starting on the bench. No one in the starting line-up today that started in the game against Canada in the World Cup game.

5 now. Defending horrific. What was the point of playing all the new players at once against a quality side? Surely does the players more harm than good.
