One hand on the plate now, we'd be the first club to threepeat and moves us level with Victory in equal second all time.

If we can go on and win the plate and get Leckie and van der Venne back for the finals campaign I don't care where it's played, we're every chance to make it two doubles in three years too.
What a magnificent afternoon of sport, lovely win for City, back to playing some of their best football, and meanwhile over the road, the Cats ripping the dawks a new one and sending a message to the comp.

Wasn't perfect, but what a huge win. Still plenty to fix, but with a five point break and a handy GD buffer, it'll take a practically flawless finish to the season by Adelaide, unless we completely fall over. 4-6 points from our last four should be enough and more than that is mathematically impossible territory for us to be overtaken.
7 point break- even better with that massive GD.
We would have to really stumble badly to let this PP go.
Sorry, I was replying to your Wednesday post- but nevertheless, we are now 7 points up.

Very disappointing not to go on with it from where we were, but a huge point and realistically we're not losing the plate from here - the only way Adelaide can pinch it is if they're perfect over their final three AND we lose our last two. It'd be nice for us to finish it at our next opportunity in just over a week though, if Western United don't do the job against Adelaide tomorrow.

Tonight shows playing any of the top 4 over 2 legs will be a challenge.

Especially wouldn't want to be facing WSW with city hall DESPERATE for a Sydney based side to make the GF.

Glover made some great saves to keep.us in the game, likewise Vuka for them.

3 plates in a row is a massive achievement. After all those tough early years it's great to be able to watch us become so competitive.

I think the turning point for us was the covid break in 2020. We were middling that season, off the pace, just another average year. But after the break we came back and were unlucky not to have win the GF. The rest is history after that.

So what does the rest of this season hold for us? Can we reach a 4th straight GF? Win a 2nd championship? We've been the best team, hopefully we can get fit over the next few weeks and freshen up. Nothing will be easy, but I'm excited to see what we can do

I think - as we've seen from our results in the first half of the season compared to the second half - that we're (at least) as good as anyone with the current squad we have available and if we can insert Leckie and van der Venne during the finals, we're far and away the strongest team in the league. The double would be huge and that should be the clear aim from here.

Ade losing at home to WU shows us how long and taxing this season is.

With Lekkie and VDV back by finals hopefully, we rightfully will be favourites

I think your right Vdubs and MC Extra Dollop

Our GF record:
2020 - should have taken the lead, but super unlucky. A team in the rise
2021 - our breakthrough year, best team rolling around, nearly scuppered by having our key players on Socceroo quarantine
2022 - gassed by the end of the season after fixture congestion plus the trip to Asia, plus having to win the premiership in our final game

I love the fact that we can take some time to freshen up. No mad scramble to the finishing post. Get fit, get sharp, and put the others to the sword

Threepeat in a salary capped league is a massive achievement.

Hopefully a GF win to reward all that success.....and then some serious effort in the ACL.

Next year's squad going to need a big overhaul. Will lose Bos to Man City and O'Neill to Troyes. Tillio probably moves on too.

I think O'Neil is a bit iffy now, at least to Troyes? I thought he was going there on the condition they'd be Ligue 1?

Still, I'd almost be disappointed if he didn't go somewhere next season. You've got to be prepared for players like him to leave when the time comes and be happy for them.

Our current group of players could well be the best ever A-League list in history. Really hope that transfers into a GF berth and win.
Not sure who we play to get there, but as supporters , we should be pretty pleased with the dominant season we had.
Our second 11 could potentially beat many teams in the comp.

It's been a pretty dominant year except for the blip a month ago that made things a bit tight with a few games to play. 11 points was pretty much our lead (if you consider games in hand etc) throughout the back end of the year.

There were some pretty fierce Sydney FC teams across the journey, I think there was one season where they lost only one game. And that Brisbane Roar team that had the 36 game unbeaten streak.

The difference is that there is a lot of parity in our league now.

True.
It would be interesting to try and compare our best 11 plus bench with that Sydney team.
Lam or Reis?
Even out skipper Jamieson is on the bench most weeks, ditto Galloway. Last year, Berenguer won all our awards- this year, due mainly to injuries, we are deep enough for him to be on the bench.

POTY goes to Lekkie (coaches award), while POTY by teammates goes to Aiden O'Neill.
We also had brilliant seasons from Tilio, Maclaren, Bos, Good, Glover, Berisha, Lam

definitely
Adelaide was almost the team to beat a month ago, and now dropped off big time, yet could still beat us in a final on their day.
