I know we make ourselves feel better by saying it’s the hawks senior players that are the difference but it’s absolutely their kids and the coach driving them.

The senior blokes take the brunt of the responsibility.

Sicily, Frost, Gunston, Impey, Amon, Hardwick, Scrimshaw, Nash, Meek, Chol, Moore, Worpel, Breust.

All blokes 25 and over.

Compared with:

Shiels, McDonald, Larkey, Corr, Tucker, Simpkin, LDU. That’s it. That’s the list.

Hawthorn don’t have a young team. It’s a fair misconception.

Dogs have so much talent, and never fire a shot year after year. Always find myself overrating them expecting them to do well and they never do.

Lloyd Meek is one of the most improved players in the comp, genuinely a top 5 ruckman now. Giving English an absolute bath.

When he went to the hawks I was desperate to get him, watched a bit of him in the WAFL and his tap work was so bloody good.
