I have not seen us put in the effort that the Eagles have today. This is the bare minimum they are doing and they are now going toe-to-toe with a very good team. I can conclusively say that they will finish above us.

They do have a much more senior core still and some quality key position defenders.

Yeah, I don't even mean it as an insult to our players. I imagine that hunger has just been beaten out of them over time. I don't think I'd be any better.

I'm more just expressing despair. I don't see how any amount of draft talent can win without that hunger, when every team except ours has it. I don't see the path out of this hole when our (senior) players are the only ones without the will, even if I don't blame them for it.

Currently it’s the Eagles. Also currently there are a lot of rounds to go so you cannot say conclusively what the ladder will look like at the end of the season.

The only way forward that I can see working is a massive cull of all the senior players who don't care enough. But as far as I can tell from reading what others say, that's not a viable option either.

No way in hell are they better off than us but so far in this game they have put in the type of performance I would be expecting of us at this stage. They are getting outplayed and will most likely be blown away in the 4th quarter but they are refusing to go away despite everything.

It's just bemusing that the goal posts on here keep shifting from "we'll win 6-8 games" to "we'll be more competitive but tire" to "well of course we got smashed what did you expect to happen?!"

Yep, I am impressed by the Eagles today and somehow even more disappointed in North. Really driving home how pathetic that performance was yesterday. We're not expecting the boys to actually beat a top 4 side right now but FFS at least play like you care and TRY.
