I had my first play in Tapatalk the other day - which worked fine - except that every thread I read on there was still showing in my alert list on the computer ie I got to do each of the threads twice - is that normal or something you can fix or .... ?

If I get an alert in Tapatalk, it still appears on my desktop too. I think the forum must try to remember which device it's notified you on ... but it only works in one direction.

Not sure if anyone here has watched the laws of the game videos on the afl website. Watched the rushed behinds one. I'm left even more confused now than when I started after their video examples. The first one was not under pressure even though he had a bloke hanging onto his legs while the last one was under pressure when he doesn't have control of the ball and there's someone >1m away?!?

Just play it the same way as you play the deliberate OOB rule and people would understand...

I reckon the rushed behind rule is working now the way it was intended when it was brought in. The way it works now isn't easily made into a written law, but the interpretation of it is about right.

Realistically, it was to stop players walking with the ball over the line ala Joel Bowden or Hawthorn in the 2008 Grand Final. By and large, it's achieved that.

And yet there was plenty of confusion when McGuane hand balled it through from about 20 metres out.
I can't even recall if he was pinged or not, just that there seemed as many people convinced it was allowed as those who thought it was illegal.
Farcical really.
The trouble with so many new "rules" is that they hammer them when they're new, there's heaps of backlash, talk and confusion and by round 10 they relax on it. The following year they either tweek it or get very relaxed about it and it is only paid against Brisbane.:p

I agree that he wasn't under enough pressure to walk it through (he just walked it through) as Heppell had full control of the ball, had time to duck & weave and had both hands and arms free. Having said that, they hold this up as an example where Heppell should be penalised, all the while Monfries is tripping him. I reckon they could have either called it 'square' or should have pinged Monfries. No free against Heppell.

The last one, Walker, I reckon is 50/50. he was under enough pressure that there was little chance of him picking up the ball without being immediately tackled and creating a stoppage in front of goal. The question mark I'd have over that one is the amount of space he had. He was alittle way out, was not on his own and no other opponent in shot. He could have tapped it anywhere, relatively safely.
The second one, walking it through after taking too long to kick in is exactly why the rule was brought in.
The Mitch Robinson one, (punching through from a ruck contest) still makes me laugh. Adam Goodes did exactly the same thing and looked equally confused. Hey guys, learn the rules on your day off.:D

Not sure if this is the place to ask... But here goes...

I'm a richmond supporter who will be up for the round 5 game. I will be driving up from the Gold Coast... Was just curious about parking around the gabba? Any local secrets, tips etc?

Was thinking about going to one of the near bye pubs for dinner first... Could I just park there and leave it? Would that work?

Pineapple hotel. :thumbsu:

Sorry, just read the 'Richmond supporter' bit. I'm sure there's parking up around Boggo Rd.

:p

You can get parking for no more than $20. There are a couple of vacant lots on Vulture St that charge roughly this. Also the Mater Hospital.

I'm surprised no one recommended you leave the car at home and take the hovercraft from the Gold Coast...
There's always an ultralight from Coolangatta.

Another option is to park at one of the major bus terminals (like the one at Garden City) and bus it in. Buses are free with your ticket price although the ride out if your team loses is a bit of a slog.

Just curious as to why I couldn't park at say the pineapple hotel... Have a meal and leave my car there?

There will be 30,000 people thinking the same thing.

Parking restrictions are pretty heavy around the stadium ... best way to get there is bus/train, so I'd probably park in the City and then get a train/bus out I think?

There's parking at the Norman Hotel, only a short walk little bit away from the stadium. If you go there to have a meal, they give you access to a carpark they have across the road to park in during the game. At least, they have the past few years.

Reasonable amount of street parking as well. Not sure if it is in the Gabba parking zone.

Park road at woolloongabba is where we park. just outside the parking zone and not really very far to walk to the game, about 10 mins tops.

As for the pineapple they are pretty stringent on you having to be at the venue to use the carpark. Otherwise they'll tow you.

No reflection on Reservoir tiger, but the last game I went to that I sat next to a Richmond supporter, she had a massive go for someone booing Jack R's shot on goal.

Subsequently then, Browndog had a shot - "BOOOOO BROWNY YOU'RE TOO OLD".

Last time I was at the Gabba was against the Saints last year and a Richmond supporter was seated a few rows behind me who kept on yelling out to Neiwoldt that his cousin is better.

They get in everywhere, seriously.
