We've already been overtaken by the League One boys. :p

It promises to be another exciting season with Reading, Birmingham, Derby, Swansea, Nottingham Forrest and Doncaster Rovers joining the league while West Brom, Stoke, Hull, Leicester, Scampaignerhorpe and Colchester leaving us.

Use this thread to discuss all things coke.

Hello friends.

Hopefully Barnsley can have a boring season of mid-table mediocrity.

Whose over here in the Old Dart - we should try and meet up at some games around the place.

Urgh, back here again! ;)

I'd like to be optimistic about Birmingham's chances this season but with the Board seemingly lacking any ambition I'll be happy if we avoid going down to the Third again.

I'd like to think we can at least make the Playoffs but I can see us ending up between 6th-10th.

I get this wrong every year so I don't know why I bother, but I'll try and predict who'll come up/go down once again:

Winners: Birmingham City
Promoted: Watford
Play-offs: Crystal Palace, Charlton (promoted), Reading, Ipswich
Relegated: Blackpool, Coventry City, Doncaster Rovers

Promoted from League 1: Leeds (winners), Carlisle (promoted), Southend (play-offs)

I'll have some of what you're smoking please good sir!

donny play attractive football along the ground, no hoof at all, if they do go down it will be in style

Not like they have a choice. Their strengths is they have alot of pace and they play to it. IMO they will either be a top 10 finisher or dead last. The smokies for this year

Anyone seen Ferrie Bodde from Swansea play?
We seem to be willing to throw the kitchen sink at him.
If he's so good, why the hell was he still at Swansea?

Drop me a PM if you plan on coming to the opening match. :thumbsu:
Will do. There's a group on London based Barnsley supporters I've hooked up so this'll be a big one for us.

I think their manager (Martinez) picked him up from somewhere relatively cheaply. He's only been their a couple of years max I think.

I've seen him play a few times, genuinely good player. Spent one season at Swansea after leaving ADO Den Haag. Plays as a denfesive midfielder, very very good. 2 million quid is being thrown around, but i'm not sure swansea NEED to let him go, we're a club not in debt. So hopefully he can stay and we can push forward towas the top of the championship.

Martinez is a machine just quietly.

We seem to be courting a midfielder of CL pedigree. That'll be interesting to see who that is, if his identity is ever unveiled. Could be ideal, as we need a big time playmaking midfielder.

Still going hard at Boyd. DJ, please, get Evans on loan, get Chops back, much cheaper, and would probably be more effective.

Rams have now officially signed 9 new players, most from other Coke clubs.

Latest is Albrechtsen from WBA who joins Ellington & Stewart (Watford), Dickinson (Stockport), Connolly (Plymouth),Commons (F****t),
Green (Doncaster), Davies (Tranmere) & Zadkovich

Have traded Miller,Jones,Earnshaw & Fagan out with more to go.

Dickinson is quality. Good signing, be interesting to see how he adapts to the Championship given he's making a two division leap. Unlike Sharp I think he has the physical tools though which may be the difference.

I can't see anyone beating Reading for the title after their record winning championship year a few seasons ago, coming 8th in premier league and being the last team relegated last season I find it hard to see anyone beating this great club.

Cardiff City to get promoted through the playoffs.

PLEASE.

Have Cardiff signed anyone worth noting in the off-season? Here is hoping for a fit and firing Robbie Fowler for the whole season.

I tend to agree. Interesting to note that some betting agencies have them on the 3rd line of betting behind the R's and Birmingham.

Reading are losing a bit of quality though.

Barnsley have signed Ian Hume from Leicester (1.2m), Hugo Colace from Newells Old Boys and some French bloke from the Swiss second division.

Cardiff now apparently chasing Marcus Bent and seemingly giving up on Kris Boyd. Add a looming one year deal for Fowler and Ross McCormack's signing and the goals look good for 08/09.

Nice work from Brum by signing Kev Phillips, will bang in 25 odd this year no sweat.

I hope so, I'm pleased with his signing, at this level Kevin Phillips is quality. My only worry is that we don't play the free-flowing Football that WBA did that created the opportunities for Phillips to put away. I think we're a creative midfielder or two away from that at the moment.
