The Americans always say that if it wasn't for them we would be speaking Japanese.

I for one have always wanted to learn, so again, shame on the US - by now we would be speaking English AND Japanese.

Actually there was a possibility that the French would take over WA, in a governance sense, like 150 years ago. Someone put a stop to it though.

Yes! I remember seeing a book of sketches of native animals made by the French in WA. They ultimately thought against colonisation but its interesting alternative history. The Swedish kingdom also had plans for WA - they probably thought 'we don't want to end up being Dockers supporters' and sailed the hell back home.

There was a plan for some of the Kimberley to become a Jewish state at one stage too.

I wonder if they would have been any good at footy?

Isn’t that the only reason the English set up camp in Perth? The French had started up a camp in Albany (a much better natural harbour) and the English, fearing another Canada/US scenario sent an expedition to colonise WA in Perth

I reckon my year 12 geography teacher told me that Albany doesn't have enough freshwater to support a large settlement.

The kid belongs in the 22. He stepped up against two tough team's in Geelong and Melbourne.

I think whatever this guy does post footy he's gonna be successful.
He certainly does belong in the 22.

With his intellect the sky is the limit with respect to Bailey’s future post AFL.

He is the smartest person currently at the Club.

All it takes is a bit of belief.
If this is the level he performs at when 90% of the crowd are just giving him no hope and every week fans want him dropped without caring to see what he brings to the team, try imagining what he could perform to when he actual has some bloody support from his own fans?

Absolute glue guy, just need the fans to get around him!
After chatting to fans in Melbourne, I believe most of his critics were a very vocal minority - apparently, he is well loved.

It was definitely more down south. My memories of whatever program I was watching are very vague. There are still some frenchy names of places around WA though.

Yeah it was claimed by Lockyer in 1827 at King George Sound, right on the Southern Coast. French names abound down south, as well as some Dutch ones, most famous being Rottnest (Rat Nest) Island.
