Because of the academy it effectively gives GWS another top 10 pick so it makes sense to them

3 for McCarthy and 7 would still have been a good deal for you on its own but because the Giants have so many early pics they may not even need to use 31 so you get the benefit of being first to get a deal done

It was always a good deal but would never have happened if not for the academy

Fair to say we have the currency for Kersten and even Hamling and now we just need to wait on the Mayne compo to use on Hill. Still have a top 10 pick in a strong draft. Yeah ok I'll take that.

Pick 41 = Kersten

Might even get some late picks at the end of the draft thrown in if the clubs won't use them.

So we go to the draft with 7 plus a fist full of 4th & 5th rounders plus 4 players in the right age bracket. Not bad.
