Steph didn't win the MVP for his defensive abilities though.

Well, Steph did lead the league in steals last season (average and total), so it's a factor.

If the overall production is less (individually and as a team) on either end of the floor, it's going to affect overall perception.

Steph could have averaged 0 steals last year and still smashed the MVP.

The reason he's currently not in the convo is:

1) Steph being Steph is now sort of expected (LeBron knows this problem when trying to win MVPs)
2) Durant has taken some of the attention
3) Some sensational individual starts to the season by other players
4) Warriors haven't won every game by 50 as expected

His defense isn't really one of those reasons.

20 mil per for Evan Turner

He was fine in Boston last year but just baffles me why a young team like the Blazers would sign him to such coin to play spot minutes off the bench.

His play just makes it even more baffling.

Lakers seem like a pretty legit playoff threat, bottom half of the west looking pretty weak this season.
They look ok

From that bottom tier

Pels look cooked
Kings are maddeningly up and down
Dallas aren't looking great
Suns and nuggets inconsistent as well
Wolves a couple of wins under expectations early

Of course that's not taking injuries or schedule strength into account

Let's see if they can keep it up

I'll keep saying it Utah are the ones to watch out for they have constructed an impressive roster and are primed to strike

To some extent I agree but they can struggle to close games is my only concern

Pretty funny watching Utah games

Exum's role is mainly to stand around the perimeter while guys like Hayward, Hood, Favors and Iso Joe get shots... Then as soon as Exum makes a little mistake or misses a shot or two Quin Snyder decides that's enough and subs him. Can always predict it too. Within a few seconds someones walking to the bench to replace him.

Must be hard for him to get confidence in that system.
They see him as a guy who can play three positions on the floor and can be effective on D. Utah and Exum are in a position now where both are comfortable with the other and things will naturally progress. If he starts putting together some consistent output they are starting to look pretty legit.

Yeah it's less that I think the Lakers are awesome and are going to win 50 games, it just doesn't seem there's much outside of the top 8 atm outside of the Grizz and Denver that look much of anything. It's a lot weaker than in years past, might only need 40ish wins to get in.

Our PG situation is really hard to read.

If we want to win, we need to run Rubio/Jones. The Rubio inclusion is obvious, but Tyus' current form places him clearly second in line. Dunn gets very few minutes in this scenario, though, which isn't ideal for the future.

If we want to develop, we move Rubio and run with Dunn/Jones (and perhaps sign a Chalmers/Jack type when fit). But is Thibs willing to sacrifice immediate impact for the future, and is that really in our best interests? Secondly, what's the market like for Ricky? We keep hearing that Sacramento are the most keen, but what exactly can they offer? Moving Rubio for hot trash isn't in our best interests right now either.

The alternative is to move Jones and go for the immediacy of Rubio's impact along with the development/upside of Dunn. But we all know that Rubio/Dunn will only coexist until KD is ready to take over. As such, moving Jones leaves us needing a reserve option in the short to medium term anyway.

None of the options are ideal. It's tough.

Playing for coach Bud as a role player would be great. System is always a 10 man rotation and the starters rarely play more than low 30s for minutes so you get meaningful court time.

Because he's got shit around him. Just need to watch yesterday's game to see that.

Nikola, Taj, Lopez, Wade, Canaan and McDermott have been pretty good so far with Rondo being up and down, we're 6-4 not 1-9.

Because they keep putting pieces around him that either suck balls, get injured or dont fit.

Some of that isnt their fault, but he's right in saying that Jimmy is wasted in Chicago.

He isn't wasted in Chicago, this year wasn't meant to be anything but Wade becoming available which I've got no doubt Chicago never expected to happen and we will still have a max slot available this off-season to add to Butler and Wade.

Wade just changed the outlook of this season, but overall Chicago is still in a very good financial position going forward.
