Captains Address

Finally a home win, finally a winning streak and a genuine four quarter effort saw us hold off the Bears from start to finish in a game we never looked like dropping. Led by Marlowe who played the game of the season our midfield were dominant, the defence battled hard again and the forward structure was again a winner with full contribution.

We head to face the Furies this week and with them currently sitting bottom this is an important four points to secure as it puts us well and truly in the frame for a top four spot, something we wouldn't have considered a fortnight ago.

Posting wise, fine effort - 15 posters turned up, 7 in double figures and we can claim a posting victory over the Bears as well as a match win.

Sure, they're bottom of the table but there's an old Royal that would lose to this team and a new Royal that would win it easily, luckily the last month has been a new Royals one and we're back in the race with a recovered percentage and a three win trot. The #newstackedsix wore down the Furies forward line, our forward line is as functional as ever and the mids didn't even need Marlowe to guide them this week, spookism in particular the standout. Oh, and we've got the in form ruckman in the league running about too so it's all gravy (for now).

Posting wise we had a bit of a drop not massive and it wasn't a huge thread coming off a long weekend and into a team down the bottom however I would like to single out the joy that is seeing Blacky back in the posters list. When the best Royals ever come back it's a lift for all of us.

Big weeks to come now... next week we host the Wonders who are sitting in third, before a journey to tackle the league leaders again in the Warriors. It's as big as a fortnight comes as we're playing a lot of team above us.
