Back to the Trade and Rumours stuff.
The Swans are trying to get us to part with pick 6 for three players.

Here's the link:
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,10959631%255E2722,00.html

Would need to be a very good 3rd player for us to part with the pick.

Saddington and Davis will be 25 next season. If the other midfielder is Fosdike he will be 25 as well.

I think this is a risk. Saddington is coming off a major knee injury. Davis apparantly has attitude issues and left the Pies to go home.

Gilbee linked to Swans according to the Herald Sun.

According to What The Papers Say on SEN last night the other two Swans being shopped around in their insane quest for Ottens are Doyle and Fosdike.

Saddington coming off a knee injury, Davis is about the size of James Cook or Alan Jackovich in their last season with us. I'll be fairly unhappy if we do this trade.

Speaking of trades, I heard from what I can loosely call a source, that there is talk about Bowden for the Rodent Rodan.

The idea of preseason pickof Bowden for nothing is not on richmonds line, because they are trying to shake a better player loose, and don't want to show that they are using the same tactic as Ottens would do if a trade broke down.
That way they can abuse him forevermore.

Onto other matters.

I have absolutely NOTHING on the line of us trading pick 6 to help get the Ottens deal through, and personally I find it an ethical choice to try and sink Richmond getting anyone good. I'd prefer that Ottens go into a draft for nothing.

I don't understand why the bullies hate the tigers so much.

You guys screwed us over last year with the Browny deal. Pick 6 and 20 was a big cost. Geez we can't even get that for Ottens and he is a tall.
And as for Wallet he couldve ended up anywhere, we just came up with the dollars I suppose.

Cheers and good luck with Eade he is a good coach!

Cheers Blaisee

Fairly unhappy? I'd spew. Saddington is nothing special, Davis plays less games than Clark Keating and my Swans mates think Fosdike is a dud.

If Eade is any good, we won't get early picks again for a while, and shouldn't trade them away on this dross.

Heard Eade briefly on SEN this morning. He said he wasn't even going to go to the trade sessions today.

I really do hope that this reflects a real reluctance to trade.

I have no desire to part with pick 6 unless it's for a player worth far more than pick 6. I would hate any deal done where we get multiple players for pick 6. Pick 6 is for quality. Multiple players are quantity not quality.

yep, this apparently is one of those rare 'tall drafts', although it is quite shallow. picks 3 nd 6 are just on the money to take advanatge of that.

and of course we need another soft half forward and another average midfielder like we need a hole in the head.
good tall forwards or theres the door, thanks.

Thats why we shouldn't trade 3 or 6.
It makes Richmond and hawthorn have to spend their earlier picks on talented talls which they both really need so they don't suffer for years, leaving us with even better choices then 3 and 6 can provide talent wise.

Eade not going to trade day?
I bet he is using the foot soldiers to hear things out, but is keeping away because only he knows what he is willing to do, and what for, and its a bit of poker-face.
He might not be really active in the trades, but there is bound to be something happen and alterations will apply to some extent.

FWIW, and to save replying to threads all over the place (primarily Doc's "Pick 54' and "Anyone Nervous About Next Week", I will add a rumour I heard to the 274,803 other rumours around at the moment. This comes from someone who is not really a friend, but more than a friend-of-a-friend!! Also not a Bulldogs supporter. This person supposedly over-heard one end of a conversation (on a mobile) last week, mobile held by one Dogs official and passing comments with another Dogs official in attendance. Unable to determine who was at the other end, though. Apparently (!!) the gist of the conversation was as follows as far as my "source" could understand - basically, so the story goes, we only intend to use 3 picks in the main draft - 3,6 and whichever is left of 22,38,54. Intent is to trade either 22 alone or 22 and 38 for an experienced player up to 25/26 years old. This would fill one vacancy on our list (of five). We would then use 3/6/38 or 3/6/54 (depending on what is left) at the main draft, keeping one pick up our sleeve for the PSD, to pick up another experienced player out of contract. My "source" says the only player specifically mentioned by the party at their end of the line was a comment something like "Doesn't completely rule Lance out" or words to that effect, and what they think were references to salary cap, but didn't make sense only getting half a conversation. The rest of it sounds feasible, in fact glaringly obvious, but my "source" has no reason to make it up that I can think of.

May be absolute cr*p about Whitnall. I don't know, but there you go.

Also FWIW, I too am nervous, although not as nervous as when Wallace and Rohde were calling the shots. Remember getting Luke Trew(?) from WCE for Ilija at the end of 96? He then got delisted before the start of the 97 season. What a great trade!!

You lost all your player assessment credibillity when you foolishly tried to suggest we should delist Harrison, a player who was rated 10th by our club in the B&F.
Back on topic
Why would you bag me for expressing my desires of trading Koops for Rodan when you have rubbished Koops yourself? Rodan may turn out to do nothing for our club if he came but as you seem to be willing to flame Koopsy, i am sure you can handle Rodan being given a chance.
He has explosive pace, knows how to find the goals and has a fair bit of size on him.
A good tactical coach like Rocket Eade could do wonders for a player like him who seems to be able to find the ball but just holds the ball a little too long.
Of course you're going to let rip on Rodan but still a viable option from my point of view.
I thought you would be applauding me for wanting to get rid of the same player as you Ching? Not as much sweeping BS as you think!

Pfft. Harrison should have been delisted. Leave Ching's credability alone. We've all got conflicting views on Harro, he's just expressing his.

After discovering our club rates him as a regular player, learning he finished 10th in the B&F and losing the delist Harrison poll all in the last few months, his form has to be shaky. However, i do believe this was a minor conflict between Ching and myself and i am sure we are both man enough to sort it out without you offering 3rd party help.
While i am here put P.Street on the table for Richmond, Terry would be foolish to take it but with Stafford,Hall and an early draft bigman the future looks bleak, even with Simmonds they are under stock. Time for Eade to offer the big fella up.

Make that 101 different trades you now tried that will never eventuate. I don't think much of Street but trading him after trading for him 1 year ago isn't going to happen. His next club will be North Ballarat.
I don't mind the suggestions but try and make them realistic or possible.

Have you been spending your time in a car yard?

Mark Seaby for pick 22 is the deal we are looking for at this moment.
A big strong CHF prospect who the Eagles could easily swap considering they want Thompson and would be able to on trade pick 22.
Seaby is one of my top 10 trade targets i'd like the club to go after..

Pfft. We'd get nothing for Street.

I wasn't attempting to sort anything out between yourself and Ching. I merely agree with his opinion on Harrison. I'd prefer to take a young tall as a smokie with the last selection of the draft and have a small chance of him doing a Harris and becoming a decent player for us.

I agree with making a play for a decent player with our 2nd and 3rd round picks. Damon White for one would be good.

I think a deal of Saddington, Fosdike, and a second round pick for our pick 6 may be on the cards. Eade seemed to love Saddington, so who knows. I sure hope not.

B.Ottens - back problems
T.Notting - many of his type
D.White - too old
M.Seaby - tick
C.Bizzell - tick
T.Richards - undecided
R.Haddrill - undecided
N.Dal Santo - tick
J.Hay - tick
C.Keating - coming to the end

Who said N.Dal Santo is up for trade, you would chase him wouldn't you?

I'd give up pick 6 for him definitely... perhaps even pick 3 (is the quality in this draft well down on last year)? It would depend who we could get with pick 3 I suppose, but I'm led to believe that last year's top three are well down on the previous years' top three.

Dal Santo is an absolute star in a gun side and he's still very young. He has the perfect name for a striker, too - not that it's at all relevant.

I agree with pretty much everything PC said. I'd love to get Dal Santo and Bizzell, but it just won't happen - I know Bizzell has signed a contract now anyway. I also would love to get Seaby - I don't know how much West Coast would want for him, though. Considering he's the third choice ruckman at West Coast, perhaps we could get away with a third round pick. Then again, maybe I'm dreaming.

He is out of contract mate.
With L.Ball just signing a new contract and Gehrig/Hamill and Riewoldt raking in the money he may be forced to take a pay cut which he would obviously not be happy with.
A perfect young player to add to our rebuilding list.

Nick DalSanto would be at the top of my list of targets.
All this Ottens and Thompson is hopefully keeping a lot of other teams busy.

Sadington I would have time for.
Fosdike and Nick Davis (who wanted to leave vic to go back to NSW) not really.
For pick 6? Get *******(self-edited Mr Moderator)

Target of my interest is also Steven Armstrong from Melbourne.

J Hay wants to go back home way too often for mine.

Ted Richards isn't that bad a prospect, but not something worth getting as part of a deal for any of our first 3 picks.

Seaby, whatever, but 22 is still a very valued commodity.

Onto another strange occurance:

Today BRH was doing his 'usual' (for the time being) 15km walk taking in the best (and worst) of Altona North and Williamstown.

At about 3.20-3.30pm I was walking past Centenary Park (is that what its called) and suddenly out of nowhere came the rushed figure of a certain Mr Lindsey Gilbee from a parked car on the other side of the road.
Almost bowled me over.
Seemed very intent for some reason and was looking left and right and then as quickly as he rushed to the park he rushed back to his car, Reversed it quick smart (not looking if any cars were coming to collect his vehicle) and started to race out of there, still trying to put his seatbelt on and not looking at the road while driving.

I just shook my head, and I am not sure but I believe it was his car that was parked outside Grant's residence on The Strand a few minutes later.
(it was the same smalish car, of the same model and colour)
