I realise you asked for one and i'm listing 5, but any one of these would be good as they all have big ? marks.

Thorp - Make CHB his own.
Dowler - Tall wing / HF in the Richo mould.
Muston & Bailey - Would be a great story to come back after a couple of years of knee opps.
Kennedy - Would be great to see the family name continue.

Cameron Wood - To show why we traded our 07 1st Rounder for him and become 1 of the better Rucks in the League

Brad Dick - Just explode onto the Sceme

Wanting Wood and Dick to explode eh Dave?

Little toey mate?

Hayden Skipworth. I am sick to death already of the Cousins will be this or that talk. He might be alright..who knows.

But, the other bloke taken in the pre-season draft that had real senior experience in Skipworth is going to really complement what Knights has at his disposal at Essendon - an experienced midfielder/small forward who will work with the players around him.

i would love to see swift jump out of the blocks for the eagles and be our next a grade midfielder to complement kerr. but my brain tells me masten for a huge one

but my smokey from the team would probably be eric mackenzie to hold down CHB and make some real strides. showed some potential last year and has had a solid pre season.

Given the setbacks with his 2 knee reco's since being drafted (and 1 just prior to drafting) it would be something of a cindarella story to see young Hawk Beau Muston get up and about this year...

looking at the tiges..

our backline is looking pretty solid with moore, mcguane and thursfield.
quite a few quality midfielders in foley, deledio, cousins, cotchin and co.

however with richo in more of an around the ground role we are lacking in the key forward department.

anyone of Riewoldt, Hughes or Pattison stepping up to kick between 45 - 60 goals would almost guarantee we kick winning scores given that richo, brown and morton will probably all kick somewhere between 30 - 50 goals each anyway.

Pattison would be ideal as if he burst onto the scene he would dominate CHF and Ruck, which is the other area we are slightly lacking in.

Would it be going too far to suggest he might be the best in his family?

:D

On a needs basis, Thorp to accept he won't displace Franklin from CHF, and make CHB his own. Ideally suited to the role Hodge played in the GF for mine, as he reads the play so well, and is a good kick off both feet.

Considering his mother is Geoff and Gary Ablett Seniors sister, yes it would be going too far. A father that played the record amount of games in one of the most dominant teams in AFL/VFL history, Gary Jr, Nathan and Luke all have medallions. There is no way he is even top 5 in his family.

Xav Ellis will dominate when he gets back from his hip injury.

Dale Thomas. So much potential, talent and skill. To make the transition from good Half forward flanker to elite gun midfielder. I think he has it in him, we need one main gun mid to take us the next step. Thomas is it.

The sooner, the better Dale. :D

The blues aren't even established enough to say they won't go down even if Fev fires.
All I am saying is that Essendon will go nowhere if Laycock gets a game. Hille is a great ruckman who has established himself. Laycock wouldn't put his head over the ball if it disguised itself as a pillow.
FYI I hope Laycock plays 300 games for the Bombers, a guy that big averaging less than 10 hitouts a game and with terrible efficiency, all that means is more campsites will be taken up at Bonnie Doon in early September.

Laycock will need to improve to even get a game this year. Bellchambers has already moved past him. Has done some very nice tapwork so far in the NAB cup including comprehensively beating Leunberger every timem they went head to head. Still doesn't do much around the ground but that will improve.

WHO I WANT TO SEE STEP UP: Colin Sylvia. Top 3 pick and have seen glimpses over the years but only seen one game where he consistantly played the 4 qtrs to his potential

ON A NEEDS BASIS: John Meesen or any KPP in our forward line! Anyone!!!
