I dont really care who gets in, but Id like to take the opportunity to ask a Trump supporter something that bugs me.

Isnt it obvious Trump is the very model of a demagogue? Someone who says anything and everything what his supporters want to hear and whose sole ambition is to get elected and then .. whatever, job done.

Even more-so, the 'ability' for his supporters to accept blatant hypocrisies, mainly on the religious/evangelistic front.

A man, convicted of sexual assault, indicted on numerous rape charges (with credible evidence he violently r*ped his wife), with already known links to Epstein and credible allegations (allegations none-the-less at this point) of involvement with minors and statutory rape, gets the backing of the catholic church?! (Which absolutely feeds in to the Miami voting).

For people to ignore this stuff just to feed the abortion or gay marriage issues is, quite literally, incomprehensible to me.

Assuming the Trump lead holds, I'm just frustrated by the external impact that this likely has on the rest of the world which doesn't get to vote in the US election, particularly climate ('drill baby drill') and institutions like NATO if he does what he's threatened to do.

A White House incl. Trump, Musk and RFK Jnr reads like a seriously unfunny skit.

Decent chance this is the death knell for progressive politics in the US for a generation. It’s baffling, but the voters aren’t going into this blind now - that he can win this election after his activities and statements in and out of government over the past eight years is an enormous indictment on both sides.

It will be interesting to see who the 2028 candidates are. I wouldn't be surprised if Tulsi Gabbard was the GOP candidate, but I think the DNC options are a lot more spread.
For DNC's sake, you'd just hope they don't go with an AOC type, who is far more progressive than even Harris.

That's the thing about elections, there are always individuals on different sides of the political spectrum. You can only speak of the broader electorate, who at this stage appear to be voting for a Trump administration including the likes of Musk, RJK Jnr and Vance - including in the popular vote (which is even more surprising to me).

I absolutely deplore Trump but don't think calling the majority of Americans stupid is the best take either. There's clearly a reason why he's remained so popular (despite being himself) over such a long stretch, and as baffling as that is it can't all come down to stupidity. They deserve the leader they vote in, as much as the rest of the world does not.

If it’s “normal” and it’s two new candidates, not sure who can come through on the Democrat side. Newsom probably impacted now if you take a reading from today that a California Democrat can’t win.
