RIP Johnno Woods

Anyone who’s had anything to do with Country Football in the Great Southern will know what a Legend Johnno was and how much he did for lots of communities down this way
One of the most decorated footballers in Country WA and a great mentor and leader to so many Noongar Youth across the state

He will be sadly missed

Does anyone have an opinion on the cheaper main part of Maylands, wanted to live along the Inglewood border but atm it would be a budget stretch.

And the right type of places rarely come up.
Inglewood is pricey af but a great suburb. I would probably look at slightly cheaper alternatives that are close enough like Bayswater or Bedford (which is a very underrated suburb considering the location) but it’s obviously further away from the river

I grew up in Bedford and mum still lives there. It’s not as cheap as you think anymore.

Found this fun website the other day that gives you a ranking out of 100 for the crime in your suburb (higher = worse).

Mine came in at 13 which is one of the lower scores of the suburbs I checked. I think the worst I came across was Cannington with 97.

Yeah I used to live in Bedford but it's generally out of walking distance of the train line and shops which is a non negotiable and as above very expensive now as well. Same as Bayswater, it's almost the same price as where I've been looking anyway..

I think the best bet still is probably just below the suburbs border where you get a discount just because the property has Maylands written next to it instead if Inglewood even though it's only a block or 2 away.

Midland is 100/100.

I found Karawara in the 70s an interesting outlier...uni students causing havoc?

Good old Midland lol, didn't think to check them.

I think I read somewhere once that Karawara has the highest % of state housing homes of any suburb of Perth.

Would of liked to seen Rottnest island on a less busy day ...
Man it gets crazy busy there.
We got stuck there for nearly a week because the swells were too high for the ferries to get back - was an awesome excuse not to go to work :)

Where you getting that from? It dropped from the predicted 39 but I'm seeing 36 today, 37 tomorrow and 38 Monday before relief finally sets in.

BOM is saying 33. You do realise it is Friday, right. It is back to 39 for Saturday and Sunday.

Who paid ..for the placed to stay etc.?
we didn't have to pay for the extra nights, and we had a big house overlooking Thompson's Bay. They put on quiz nights etc to entertain us.

it was June 2019. We went over for the long weekend when a nasty flu was happening. Luckily we also had a nurse on the island.

That happened to a mate of mine but on one of the islands up north (Christmas Island IIRC). He and his old man were up there for work and their flight home got cancelled. With only one flight in and out a week they just spent an extra week drinking and playing golf everyday.

Mate, I wish it was Saturday (mind you, I have an outdoor wedding to go to, and I'm the skipper too). T'was my phone app, dropped from 36 to 34 on that now.

Outdoor weddings in heat suck. I had a cousin's wedding at Kings Park during summer a couple of years ago. Barely any shade in the middle of the afternoon and the temp was in the high 30s.

Stopped in Perth on my way back from Europe in September. Hadn't been there since 1987. Didn't get to see a whole lot. Took the train from the airport into the city about 8pm. Walked around a bit and saw a few interesting characters then got up in the morning and caught the train back to the airport. But from what I did see I was really impressed. So much that I'm thinking of going back for a visit next year. Maybe when Essendon play there.
