Forward under 275k: Tredrea? A Edwards? Williams?

I'm looking for a forward at that price who'll pull his weight. I currently have Edwards, who's about the same price as Tredrea and who I think has better improvement prospects. There are a few who are thereabouts like Williams and Welsh, but none really stand out. Would I be better off just getting someone like Leroy Jetta (much cheaper) and using the cash elsewhere?

if you have another 5k chuck in brett burton, looks fit and had a nice pre season, treadrea edwards and williamscould have the odd good game but i doubt any of them will consistently pull the numbers

Re: Cross or Hayes?

Is this worth starting a new thread about?

I mean come on they are both guns, who the hell cares which one will average that extra 2 points more? Concentrate on picking the right mid pirced players.

I agree that it wasnt worth starting a new thread, but choosing the right guns isnt a matter of just flipping a coin. I would know, last year ROK and Pavlich were the exact same price, and I chose ROK just because I liked him better, that cost me 20 p/p/w by the end of the season

All i'm saying is that you should do plenty of research and consideration for all your players

Re: The Player A, Vs Player B thread

another one...

Cross or McPhee?

well i have cross as he is incredibly consistent. mcphee can score higher however.

tough one:

marc murphy(325) or travis boak(274) or martin clarke(283) or rhyc shaw(314) or mclean(322) or reilly(327)
otherwise unaffordable atm players mcglynn, pierce, yze, ling, mcveigh, salopek in price order.

what do you think out of first lot? heading towards boak, mclean or murphy who i have atm but feel is over hyped as judd will be in forward line so he will still get tagged imo

Re: The Player A, Vs Player B thread

Barry Hall (SYD)
vs.
Warren Tredrea (PTA) + 40k or so...?

Barry Hall

McIntosh + B. Johnson

or

Cox + Cloke :thumbsu:

Cox & Cloke

N. Dal Santo vs L. Ball. Both similar price

Luke Ball

Cox + Stanton + Birchall

or

Ottens + S.Thompson/Ablett + Mcphee/P.Burgoyne

Ottens (maybe Fraser/Mcintosh?) & S.Thompson/Ablett & P. Burgoyne (not Mcphee)

Aaron Edwards, i think he is a machine.

Re: Simmonds or Wood + 60K?

I think Simmonds only.
Wood is too expensive to have on the bench but too much of a risk to be starting on the ground.
I'm assuming you guys are starting him?
Yeh im starting wood, i hope coz has a few bad first weeks so then i can upgrade from Wood to Cox. I got 224k in bank lol

He will? What makes you think that? To me it doesn't really make much sense to recruit one of the games best mids and chuck him in the forward line.

Anyway, I think that Reilly will probably be the best out of those players (currently have him in my line up), but Boak is certainly at a tempting price as well, and McLean is one I think should do really well.

Re: The Player A, Vs Player B thread

Goodes or Dal Santo or Ball?

Goodes had an exceptional finish to last year and his DT scores were through the roof, picking up 153, 105 and 106 in his last 3 games. However I just wonder whether or not he would be able to keep that up in 08.

Sometimes it isn't just a flip of the coin but most of the time it is. Players are usually the same price for a reason. Hayes, Cross and even Stanton will all average pretty much the same (95-100).

I don't think you can go wrong with either. They should all average over 80 and all have the potential to average 100. It's really just luck choosing the one that will average 100.

I'd say Goodes would edge both, mainly based on his stellar finish to last season. But you can't really go wrong with any of them.

Priddis, Judd or Tuck.

Re: Forward under 275k: Tredrea? A Edwards? Williams?

yeah I ended up restructring my forward line and getting Burton instead--it's now:

Pav
B. Johnson
Hall
Deledio
Burton
Porps
Bradshaw
(Tippett, Rioli)

Re: The Player A, Vs Player B thread

just putting the final touches on my side, just choosing between

HODGE vs CROSS vs STANTON vs HAYES
