i agree he offers us more than both mcguane & thursty
but why upgrade a player when you dont have to yet , waite another year if we can.

our delistee's this year should be simmo & cuz retired

polo, mcmahon, hislop, thomson all to be traded our delisted
gilligan,polak,relton off the rookie list

that gives us 5 nd picks , 1 psd & 3 rookie picks

question is why upgrade now if we dont have to !

i think you will find we have to make a decision on gourdis hes had two yrs as a rookie. besides hes had 3 yrs in the system and may well nominate for the draft if we dont upgrade him.

as for not upgrading if we dont have to i agree. hicks and orielly can both be rookied for another season along with contin. and even as rookies will get their fair share of senior games.

also if we promote gourdis delist gilligan polak roberts i believe we can add 5 new rookies to the list.

personally i would be looking to trade into a pick somewhere between 15 and 30 preferably closer to 15. this means we will have to offer something up to achieve this.

if we achieved this it would mean pick 6 hopefully a pick around 15, pick 29,
pick 46, pick 63 pick 79. psd 2. 5 rookie picks.

delistings then would be simmonds, cousins, mcmahon, polo, hislop, possibly 2 of thomson, nahas white or mcguane.

to gain a pick 15 thru 30 or even earlier we would need to offer up players of value.

sheesh forgot westhoff so 4 rookie selections it is.

No fear we can always pick him up in another 3-5 years at a cheaper rate if need be
hey magic man what are your thoughts on ian richardson.
personally i would give him a go.imo a better more rounded sml forward than all of white nahas nason king gilligan and hicks.

mckinley wouldnt be too bad, but i wouldnt go hard to get him

houli on the other hand, i dont think he is worth a straight swap for tambling, but maybe their second round pick plus houli for tambling and our third or something like that.

Poorly skilled, plodders or those with attitude issues aint automatically just going to gain great skills , 3 yards of pace or a good attitude by going to another club.
There is more likely hood of players from outside of the AFL system making it, who haven't yet had the opportunities that being at a AFL club provides, than those that have been in the system at another club !!

If the Barlow project hasn't proven that nothing will, there is a mountain of untapped talent outside the AFL system who would improve significantly from being involved in the AFL system.

Oh please… the so called “Barlow project” was one out of the box, a fluke signing.

Yes there is good untapped talent out their, but if you think we can secure a similar quality player like Barlow from VFL. WAFL or the SANFL you are dreaming.

If we let Tambling go for something rubbish like Houli i will be furious.

Tambling is under contract for 2 more seasons - i really don't see our urgency to trade him out, just because he is not happy. Stiff Richard, a contract is a contract and based on your average season this year - we are not likely to get back the amount of money, resources and time we have put into you.

Unless some club is willing to trade for you based on your top potential - we ill not be trading you, that simple.

I would want us to be looking at trading Tambling and maybe one of our picks for a potential, top line, young Ruckman - something that we need urgently.

If tambling goes for some meek return like Houli and a 2nd rounder in a bullshit draft - it will be a major mistake by the club imo

I really hope we don't bother trying to trade for picks this season - the draft has already been picked at by the GC and they will control the entire draft based on it. On top of the key picks they will have in the draft - how many other players that would have been high selections have they already got on their list?

I would prefer us to take our 5 - 6 picks in the draft, and promote a couple of Rookies like Gorudis and Hicks. We showed last year that when the right amount of homework is done - you can still achieve your goals with players late in the draft.

Why trade for a 2nd rounder this year - when a 2nd rounder from another club will most likely be no better than the average 3rd rounder in any other draft?

I've seen the concept mentioned once or twice, but are you guys in the market for a ruckman? I would have thought a big body to partner with Graham and to allow Vickery to find his place/develop at his own pace would be beneficial.

Jacobs or Hampson are not necessarily about to set the world on fire, but I think they're of value, are the right age for the Tiges and are at least AFL ready in body and size.

You guys DO seem to have some young tall backmen - something we would dearly love to have.

I reckon if we could put aside the fact we loathe each other and want the other to fail, we'd actually be able to do some win-win business this trade period.

Great to see in today’s HUN (can’t find a link online) the article saying that the Tigers will be waiting till after trade week to make their delistings so they can “explore trade options”. No quote from anyone at Richmond in the article though, so it could well be rubbish, but it makes sense I suppose.

Awesome! We get another 4 weeks of this speculation bullshit clogging up the boards…

Rance for Henderson? This sounds possible and likely, given they're both young, behind others, fill a need and are about the same draft pick.

I dislike Houli for Tambling. Tambling should be playing on a forward flank and we need them. Houli is not better than Tambling so we're not improving the list to any large degree, just shuffling the deck chairs.

Hendo is going nowhere. Do you mean Hampson?

I haven't seen enough of Rance to know what potential he has, but theoretically it sounds like the right kinda move. Ie.ruck for KPD swap that might work for both sides.

Hampson is highly rated at Carlton due to his long-term potential. Certainly he's a long way off it, but I think Jacobs is more likely to be moved. Hammer also hasn't done enough to complain about being stuck in the VFL. Jacobs probably has.

Don't know why some richmond fans are getting wound up over tambling. He's played over 100 games now and I can't see how he will imrove a whole lot more. His attack on the ball is poor and he's always the second one to receive the ball. Skirts the pack looking for cheap kicks.

Sorry to jump in but im very surprised he continually gets overlooked in the past 3 seasons. He's a very clever mid sized forward who has had 2-3 seasons of around 40-50 goals in the WAFL.

He has been playing with an extremely strong claremont side this year which has given him ample opportunities but i liken his style to a Mitch Morton when he was a forward, although much quicker, and has a good grab on a lead.

Would be a good foil to Jack closer to goal as he would lead to good spots and not just be a decoy lead.

What do you mean improve a whole lot more? All he has to do is get back to last years form and suddenly we'd be mad to trade him for anything less than a pick in the top dozen.

Houli & 5th rnd for Polo and third rounder?
or Houli in PSD. Thankyou! or NO THANKS

Tambling and Rance for GC's (9/11/13 or 15 and 3rd rnd)
or (Toy and 3rd Rnd)

Any backs for draft picks only???

If something like this was to eventuate then we could take a gamble on Tom Lynch at pick 6 if not I would be happy with Heppell,Atley or Polec

PSD ....Best available

Can only dream!!

i agree ive been impressed and and gob smacked that he has not at leasst been given a go on a rookie list. e is easily more rounded than many of the smalls we have taken in recent yrs and so much less of a risk than types like roberts.
one has to wonder exactly what the so called experts are looking at at times.

ya know what shits me is here we have these so called experts picking kidsand singing their praises and our supporters backing in these so called experts on nothing more than they are in charge and must know better.
why the hell we took roberts from some obscure league in front of richardson is beyond me.

Claw, if you honestly think that you know better than the recruiting staff at RFC then why don't you do something about it?

It's easy to sit back and bag everything all the time, the law of averages say you will right occasionally.

Get a job down there and turn our recruitment into a 100% strike rate, as it seems you think you can do so much better?

What always amazes me is when someone doesn't understand why someone else take a certain action, they always assume that it is the others that are stupid.

Don't forget he was playing quite well at the start of this year when he was out of form. When he gets back into form under the new gameplan he will flourish.
