Hophaus or somewhere else?

Don't worry you're on the opposite side. Don't tell me that's Arbory...place is a rip-off
Yep Arbory.

They've put thier prices up.

Used to get a schooner for under 10 bucks.

Now it's 11.

I only go there because it's a quick walk to the G and it's a quick off at the station

I do want to expand my bars for the footy and whatnot

I went once, paid $40 for 4 pots of Asahi, never went back.

Guess they need to up the prices with the amount of rent they'd pay for that kind of location.

They had coopers for 9.50 but now they have stomping ground for 11.

Paying Metro for the lease can't be cheap

George
What other joints are there.
Normally for the G I go to Arbory or the Richmond Club Hotel
Depends what beers you're into mate, I'm a sucker for the German stuff so there's a couple of german beer joints across the river from Arbory.

I'm not much of a city goer when it comes to bars, I tend to stick to South Yarra/Prahran area

Gringo would be amazed at their range of Gin.
Their wines are great value and they only stock decent stuff.
Octoberfest time , so i bought some wheat beer.

I used to know a guy who worked in the business and he said that a lot of their booze is just relabelled stuff. Their beer is stuff like Stella with a new label.

Their wines are good but give you a head ache from the preservatives.

I call bullshit on that. Probably a rumour spread by those who feel threatened.
Having said that , every bottle i have in my house ( only one from Aldi ) says "contains sulphites "

a) their range includes reputable brands. ie Brown Brothers.
b) some of their home brand stuff has won some serious awards.

That's the process.
Go to Dan's or Liquorland, they will buy any garbage and put it on their shelf with their markup.
If it doesn't move they get rid of it off their shelves .
A bit like the process StKilda use for getting players in the door.

Aldi don't have a whole supermarket , so they "select " what they are going to sell.

This is the beer i just bought.

The low cost "natural blonde " i buy sometimes just for guzzling is ok, i like that i can buy a 6 pack at affordable prices.
Aldi brand beer brewed under contract in New Zealand by Independent Breweries (Asahi Breweries).

I hope you are as wrong about the state of StKilda football club.

I know nothing about booze but that I enjoy it. The Aldi Toro Macho Tempranillo is really nice but I wake up like I've been beaten with the bottle.

I know that one :D One of the cheaper options.

I had it at a mates place. It's actually quite nice. I do like my Tempranillo though, As long as you label cask red as Tempranillo I'll drink it.

Yeah
s**t wine lol

Not so shit.

Its easy to be a pricetag wine snob. "Is this wine good"? , you betcha, paid $50 a bottle. But it takes real talent to decant your well researched el plonko into a carafe before the guests arrive, and to say " try the wine , i think you'll enjoy the bright berry notes and rustic feel "

El Toro Macho 2013 Tempranillo: This Spanish import was awarded Blue Gold (equivalent of a silver medal). It got a lot of the headlines and consequently has sold out. No doubt its $4.99 price tag had a part to play in that, but it gives plenty of bang for its buck. Savoury, even a little rustic, with generous fruit and bright berry notes, it’s eminently drinkable. As is often the case, however, if you trade up a little you’ll be richly rewarded.

With the aggressive increases from the RBA I've had to sell my property and now I use that money to pay rent to live in the wall cavities there.
