Yep, but this is a bit different, a solid away win against a genuine top 4 side cements the Tigers position as a bonafide contender not pretender. There is every chance they will have to travel in September anyway so they might as well put the myth to bed this weekend. If not then Carey & Co will have more ammo to aim at them.
Why is everyone using the word "pretender" for Richmond? Have they tried to convince anyone that they are a premiership contender? Has anyone been talking them up as a premiership contender?
They haven't pretended to be anything other than a side that finishes 5th-6th this year, which is exactly what they are. They are just a solid side who's beaten all the minnows, beaten most of their rivals for the 8 and lost to the better teams at the pointy end of the ladder. There's no pretending going on.
