Australian sports commentary and journalism is a boys club and absolutely horrible so anything that can shake things up is appreciated.
Journalism just reflects society. Social media is the issue.

Some on here exclusively complain about umpires for example, of course the media will jump on that for attention.

People claim to be ITK, that's a source of some random if right or wrong. The journalist has still researched what is being said.

The issue is people who fantasise they are journalist's, not actual journalists.

The commentary is disgusting, why they feel the need to constantly talk is beyond belief.
A lot like when you actually go to a game and from start to end there is a constant gabble of endless babble, sound and irritating gimmics to keep your head constantly filled with crap, not allowing you the space to possibly engage in your own conversation, thought process or reflective moment to form your own ideas and opinions. Gee, maybe you could even engage in a conversation with the person you went to the game with, remember them,
"somebody you used to know".
Maybe you could even make a new friend, what's that, shut up or l turn up the volume and drown you out. Oh Sorry!

The commentary is just a continuation of above with all parties playing same game reading same script l feel.

The whole thing is just a continuation of the AFL dumb it down mentality which l see as a constant, the sport is the entertainment!
Let it breathe

Some of the commentators think they are the stars of the show
This is a problem with tv networks in general now, they are big on building the profiles of their 'talent' as opposed to doing quality content.

The other problem is that there are simply too many commentators assigned to each game - all wanting to have their say.

It's footy gonzo journalism where the people who are supposed to be telling the story insert themselves into it which goes well if your surname is Thompson but is totally shithouse if it's Cornes.

It's unusual if nothing else. Rare to see someone move from one current host broadcaster to another. Brian Taylor moving from Fox to 7 in 2012 might be the last time that's happened.
Usually people move because the network they were on lost the footy rights, or never had them in the first place and they want to call footy.
