Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the Sweet FA and welcome to your live telecast of the Season 22 Mobbenfuhrer Medal, the night of nights for players and coming to you for the first time to kick off the biggest week of the Sweet FA calendar, the Grand Final week. I am your host, league administrator The Filth Wizard and I hope you enjoy the next forty five minutes or so as we anoint the new best and fairest player in the league, the Mobbs Medallist and recognise the best individual efforts of the season.

Before we start the count I must start by saying that these events don't come gift wrapped and I'm certainly not the main (nor in any way major) contributor to tonights celebrations. I'd like to thank our team of round reviewers in Ant Bear, RU_, Van_Dyke and _Cayz_. I'd especially like to thank haydo169 for his tireless work in ensuring the graphics are top shelf, an often inane task but without which we have no visual show.

I'd also like to thank our contributors during the season. Our simmers, our match posters, our statisticians, our podcasters. The league can't survive without it's volunteers so everybody that went that one step beyond this season, my endless thanks.

One note... I intended on presenting the Hall Of Fame as part of tonights presentation but was in no way happy with my preparation nor with the lack of deserved tribute so the Hall Of Fame will appear in the coming days, hopefully complete with a stirring and beautiful tribute video to those that have left us recently, courtesy of dennis crumpet.

On with the show...

Round One –

Well here we are! Back for another season in the Sweet FA to see which team is going to be crowned with a premiership at the end, for all their “hard work”. This first round will give us an inclination of which teams have been slacking off, and which teams have been trying their guts out to get themselves to that big day in September. Oops, I mean December.

West Coast Wonders vs Coney Island Warriors at The Colosseum
In round one we had the newly crowned Premiers taking on the Warriors in what was set to be an epic affair. Well it was a decent match up, the game being close for 90% of it before the reigning premiers ran away with it in the closing stages, going on to win 26.6 – 162 to 21.8 – 134. _MKMatty, haydo169, @SteeleBeam were among the best for the Wonders and Jazny and Packedlunch were very good for the losing side.

upload_2016-12-12_19-15-57.png

Fighting Furies vs Gold City Royals at Punt Road
In round one we then had the Furies taking on the Royals in what will essentially be a gauge for how the season is looking to pan out for each team. To cut a long story short, the Furies ran out winners 106 – 88. tarkyn24 was the deciding factor, kicking 6 straight to bring his side to victory while for the defeated ShanDog kicked 6.2 to keep the game respectable. Marlowe was paramount for the Royals however, and is my prediction to take home the 3 votes.

upload_2016-12-12_19-16-11.png

Baghdad Bombers vs Geelong Wolves at Abdu Prison
These two teams were looking to hit the ground running in their Season 22 campaigns, and the Wolves did that in style running out victors 89 to 98. Realistically it should have been by a lot more, but they dropped the ball (literally) in the last quarter and only just managed to hold off the Bombers late charge. Quivorir and HaroLad had huge days respectively with 5.3 a piece, while Kangaroos4eva can expect to get the nod for a great game.

upload_2016-12-12_19-16-33.png

Roys FFC vs Dragons FFC at Brunswick Junction Oval
These two teams were reeling after their off seasons, particularly the Roys who lost a couple of quality posters and both teams would be desperate to kick their season off in a good way. Fortunately for the Roys they kicked the season off in fine form, winning 147 to 74. What a start to their season! Fredturned the clock back and kicked 8.1, showing he is going to be a menace to all clubs this season, while Willo_ was incredible, gaining 148 DT points. He will definitely collect the goodies for that performance.

upload_2016-12-12_19-16-44.png

East Side Hawks v Sin City Swamprats at Waverley Park
This would have to be the weirdest start to a season I’ve seen. A draw. These two teams came into this game with high hopes, and then came out of it with looks of confusion on their faces. Will this affect their finals hopes? We will find out in a couple of months. The game was close from the get go, however and an unfortunate siren-before-shot saw gray Day’s attempt to steal the game blown away. Macca19 and Brown Bottle were superb for their teams.

upload_2016-12-12_19-17-3.png

Las Vegas Bears vs Mount Buller Demons at The Stadium In The Sky
The Bears and the Demons came into this game with high expectations, both teams had a huge off-season – in particular the Demons who picked up several players in an effort to save their club. In what ended up a blow out, the Bears went on to win 120-77. Azarole started his Full Forward career off well, kicking 5.1 while Magruder had a field day for the Bears. Oh and RU_ messed up his team sheet and got himself and Smartys Power suspended. Almost forget to mention that.

Round Two –

Coney Island Warriors vs Las Vegas Bears at Van Cortlandt Park
Well in round two it was the Bears who got off to a huge win in round one, taking on the Warriors who needed to bounce back after they dropped off in the final stages of their match. Well, the match didn’t go to plan for the Warriors who fell to 0-2 after the Bears hit the ground running and never looked back, running out victors 78-95. Magruder was huge again for the Bears and looks set for a monster season, while brahj took care of the goal kicking with a huge 7.1 bag. Reginald Perrin tried his hardest for the Warriors but it just wasn’t enough.

upload_2016-12-12_19-19-31.png

Mount Buller Demons vs Sin City Swamprats at Snow Dome
The Demons started the season off with a bad loss to the Bears, and the Swamprats had an unusual start with a draw. The Swamprats however would be the lucky ones to run out winners by 5 points.. as Azarole is beaten by the siren for his shot on goal from the FF position. Without their captains this week, the Demons were severely underpowered losing their experienced RR and a main contributor to the defensive line up. However the vice captain stood up in Van_Dyke and managed to get up there to possibly steal a couple of votes.

upload_2016-12-12_19-19-45.png

East Side Hawks vs Roys FFC at Waverley Park
The Roys are coming off a marvellous win in round one, while the Hawks are coming off an agonising draw that they cannot be too happy about. In what was a relatively low-activity affair the Hawks managed to break their duck and get their first win for the season. Running out winners 80 to 69. Brown Bottle and pantskyle were huge for the Hawks, while the Roys had a pretty even spread with no real stand outs.

upload_2016-12-12_19-20-3.png

Dragons FFC vs Baghdad Bombers at Dragon Island
Both of these teams had lost their opening round clashes and were desperate to secure that first win for the season. In what can only be described as a show class of skill by the Dragons, the Bombers were never really in the game.. getting blown into the water and forgetting how to swim. The Dragons ran out winners 117-68. Hate had a huge game for the Dragons while WFL and Itsmyshow also had big games for the Bombers, but just couldn’t will their teammates into helping them.

upload_2016-12-12_19-20-28.png

Geelong Wolves vs Fighting Furies at The Lair
Both of these teams started the season off with a bang, securing a victory each in as many rounds, which team is going to pull through and keep the momentum going? In the end it was the Furies who ran out winners 121-103, in what was an enthralling contest. GWBogan was immense for the Wolves with 139 DT points and 4 goals to his name. While RodneyDangerfield also had a decent game for the winning side, booting 3.2 among his countless possessions.

upload_2016-12-12_19-20-44.png

Gold City Royals vs West Coast Wonders at The Golden Throne
The Royals and the Wonders started their season in opposites with the Wonders scoring a nice win to start the season and the Royals failing to quite provide a challenge as they went down for a loss to begin the season. This game went the opposite way however, as the Royals decimated the Wonders in the closing stages of the match to run out winners 101-65. Thatsapaddlin would have to be best on ground with 99 DT votes and a poor accuracy shooting display to his name (1.3).

Round Three –

Gold City Royals vs Coney Island Warriors at The Golden Throne
The Royals hit their straps nicely last week, getting their first win of the season in dominant display. While the Warriors are still struggling to get anything in their win column. However this week they broke their duck! The Warriors ran out victors 101-138. DapperJong had a huge game for the winners, while J Shuttlesworth tried his best but couldn’t quite get the job done for his team.

upload_2016-12-12_19-23-7.png

West Coast Wonders vs Geelong Wolves at The Colosseum
Both of these teams are coming off disappointing losses last week and will be eager to sort their issues out and get another win on the board. In the end though it was the Wonders who would go on to completely blitz the Wolves and steer their ship, winning 101 to 69. No player cracked the 100+ DT point milestone, however Golumless had a huge day kicking 6.4 and scoring 84 DT points.

upload_2016-12-12_19-22-37.png

Fighting Furies vs Dragons FFC at Punt Road
This week it was the undefeated Furies coming up against the Dragons who fought out a win last week, can the Furies keep the streak going? Yes, yes they can as they fought off a late surge from the Dragons to win 138 to 133. What a game, possibly match of the year in the third round. akkaps had a monster of a game with 131 DT points and 2.1, with Sterge also getting plenty of the Qooty managing a hefty 115 DT points. Andonis1997 was huge for the Dragons, while Determinant needs to work on everything as he literally went backwards in the Dreamteam department with a -3 score.

upload_2016-12-12_19-22-56.png

Baghdad Bombers vs East Side Hawks at Abdu Prison

The winless Bombers are taking on the Hawks who jagged a win against the Roys last week. The Bombers must win this week to keep the early stages of confidence and morale around the club up, while the Hawks would like to make it two in a row. After a hard fought contest, and a lot of sweat, blood and possibly a few tears the Bombers have done it. They have managed their first win of the season, winning 107 to 87. DrEvil_ was impressive with 3.0 and 85 DT points and can definitely expect to poll. It’s back to the drawing board for the Hawks.

upload_2016-12-12_19-22-46.png

Roys FFC vs Mount Buller Demons at Brunswick Junction Oval

The Roys will be reeling after their loss last week that broke their bright start to the season, and the Demons are still searching for their first win. They get star players RU_ and Smartys Power back this week, and should definitely find this game a lot easier than last week with the inclusions. After a hard fought and high scoring affair the Demons have taken the game out with a 144 to 133 victory. Azaroleand RU_ have defeated their old club in their first meeting and will be reeling with confidence. However it cannot be sweeped under the blanket, fitzroybowiedog absolutely towelled up his former vice captain in RU_ with a monster game that saw him get 148 DT points and 3.3. cooney was huge for the Demons, while Azarole jagged another 5 goals.

upload_2016-12-12_19-23-15.png

Sin City Swamprats vs Las Vegas Bears at Underground Stadium

The match of the round! The Bears are going to try and keep their streak alive and the Swamprats are coming off an exciting victory last week! After what was a relatively close and competitive game for the most part, the Bears somehow pulled a rabbit out of their hat and managed to keep their undefeated streak alive with a 86-110 victory. Unbelievable. The infamous Matera92 and Magruder had inspiring games for their club and will no doubt be expecting some votes for their performances.

Round Four –

Coney Island Warriors vs Sin City Swamprats at Van Cortlandt Park
The Warriors who jagged their first win last week are taking on the Swamprats who went down to the undefeated Bears last week. This promises to be an exciting affair. Well it didn’t end up being that exciting for anyone who isn’t a Swamprats fan as they completely kicked the Warriors all over the shop, eventually winning 138-76! Jazny had a monster game for the Warriors, while Ant Bear had a huge game for the Swamprats, and probably was the deciding factor.

upload_2016-12-12_19-25-8.png

Las Vegas Bears vs Roys FFC at The Stadium In The Sky

The Bears are on a three game winning streak and the Roys lost last week to the Demons and will want to make amends. Can the Bears keep it going? Will the Roys reign supreme? Well, even after an early Roys lead the Bears managed to fight it back and take the game out, winning 118-104. Magruder had another huge game with 102 DT points and a goal, while fitzroybowiedog and Willo_ united for a monster game between them, but it just wasn’t enough to get them over the line.

upload_2016-12-12_19-24-39.png

Mount Buller Demons vs Baghdad Bombers at Snow Dome

The Demons will be looking to start a winning streak against the Bombers this week who will still be reeling after their first win of the season as well. This is really a momentum clash, as the winner will surely be in a great spot to really begin their season. Well without dragging this out as it’s going to make me sad again the Bombers disposed of the Demons easily.. running out victors 53-87. The Demons best player would be RU_ or Azarole who kicked over half the Demons score, but still nowhere near the mark. The Bombers best player would be WFL who lead the DT points and kicked 4.1.

upload_2016-12-12_19-24-46.png

East Side Hawks vs Fighting Furies at Waverley Park
The Hawks are taking on the undefeated Furies this week in a match that promises to be exciting, and after dropping the game last week to the winless Bombers the Hawks will want to make amends… and make amends they did! In what was a close game the Hawks have managed to break the Furies win streak and get a major scalp! The Hawks ran out winners 131-128. Wacky Tiger was huge for the Hawks, while Tarkyn_24 slotted 5 majors for the Furies.

upload_2016-12-12_19-24-59.png

Dragons FFC vs West Coast Wonders at Dragon Island
The Dragons, coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Furies last week will be desperate to get revenge in some form against the Wonders who completely blitzed the Wolves last week. This game could be detrimental to each sides season hopes, as it could be a complete morale killer. In what was a close bout for the majority, the Dragons have run out decent winners 106 to 88. Spanna_ and VSTone were huge for the Dragons, while THE411 was a good contributor for the Wonders.

upload_2016-12-12_19-24-53.png

Geelong Wolves vs Gold City Royals at The Lair

In what was a very ordinary posting affair, this game was nicknamed “The Nothing Cup” as both teams were down as favourites – many predicted this to be the worst game of the round. Well they were right for the most part, the match thread was horrible activity wise.. and so was the actual game for the most part.. however in the final stages both teams turned it on and it was suddenly under a goal. The Royals would eventually find a way to overpower the Wolves however and force their way to a victory 104-96. ShanDog was huge for the Royals, kicking 6 majors, while GWBogan had a huge game for the Wolves.

We're roughly a quarter of the way through an Magruder has taken an early lead having remarkably polled in every match. Itsmyshow and Willo_ snap at his heels and akkaps and Ant Bear are close behind.
