Still amazed at the Melbourne thread on the main board. Apparently 800 pages of evidence and still the "they have no proof of tanking" line is being wheeled out

I thought we were deluded....

I see where you're coming from tugg but No the afl cant be blamed for a club making a clear and conscious decision not too compete. In doing so completely failing their constituents . I realise this is going to get bloody ugly, coz it is an awful grey area and other clubs have trod a similar path perhaps just a little more subtle than the demons. I get the feeling the AFL are in a mood to throw their weight around on this and make a real statment to the clubs just who is ****en boss

yep, and I dont have a lot of pity for them since watching them sing our song with gusto after they lost. One of the worst things Ive seen at the footy

I am just angry that the AFL buried its head in the sand on this issue and flat out refused to admit there was a problem when everyone, and I mean everyone, could see that it was a problem. And now they decide to investigate. Some might say better late then never, but the whole situation was brought upon by the AFL who rewarded clubs for losing.

Strange then that they would offer their findings and ask Melbourne for a response without even laying any charges. Seems like the AFL are tip-toeing around on egg shells to me. Funny how they've come down hardest on Bailey, the one guy who is no longer at the club, and who would thus seem least capable of defending himself.

Hmm, I just noticed it now when scouring through player profiles on the Richmond website. Around half of the players have a Q&A section on their profiles and some of them are really funny.

For example, this is on Maric's profile.

As well as playing great footy, I’d like to be remembered for: Being a good person

Most memorable victory (AFL or non-AFL): Back to Back TAC Cup Premierships with Calder Cannons

Most admired player at another club: Brad Ottens

Favourite ground to play on: MCG

Best part about training: Competing

Weights or running: WEIGHTS!!!

What would you prefer – mark of the year or goal of the year: Mark of the year

Which skill do you need to most work on: left foot kick

Complete this line…with two minutes to go in the 2012 Grand Final: I ruck and compete like my families life is on the line and I help lead my team mates into the last minutes of the biggest War we’ve ever been in!

Who will be Mike Sheahan’s No. 1 ranked player by the end of 2012: Dustin Martin

You are running 30 minutes late to an early morning beach recovery session. What’s your excuse: Nothing... Just cop it on the chin.

Favourite meal the night before a game: Gluten free Lasagna

What music helps you get ‘in the zone’ before a game: Rocky VI soundtrack or Johnny Cash

One thing you would change about the world: No Money

PlayStation or Xbox? And what’s your favourite game: Xbox - FIFA

Who would win My Kitchen Rules at your club? And what’s their signature dish: Bachar Houli, he would cook a lamb on the spit.

Your favourite line from a movie: “Whats a matter Dillon? CIA got you pushing too many pencils?”

What’s your favourite dance move: The standing still

What is your favourite holiday destination in Australia: Kimberly’s

Where would you recommend visiting within your state: Halls Gap
You should check them all out, very entertaining.

what do you mean charges DD, it aint a court of Law, it will be alleged by the AFL commision they are in breach of ????? in the documents that have been now shared with MFC. Naturally they have to be given an opportunity to defend themselves before any penalty is applied.

Actually, that's a fair call. I guess it's the normal MO of the AFL, to inform the club of the breech, and wait for a response before handing out the penalties. I was a bit hasty jumping in with that line.
I'm more against their handling of the whole situation. I hate tanking. But I hate that the AFL chose to ignore it as if it's not happening for years, then through media pressure jump all over a situation like this. I can't even find anywhere that says that the MFC has breeched any rules, only the individuals.

You are right, this ain't a court of law, but it will surely be in one soon...

And saint Jim will be remembered as an honest revered figure who was just unlucky to associated with those rogues right?

Pettard has no case to answer. Tiges have given him the all clear.

Also just curious, how come Richmond_Groupie isnt credited with this thread? After all the original was his idea. I would like to see it changed.
Agree Baz, he has owned this thread all the way through anyway.

And I think it should be renamed the PRO* thread.

I don't mind mate :)

What's this "vote down" function that Melbourne fans keep going on about? Can you vote posts/threads down now?
If 10 people downvote a thread it gets put in a moderation queue which hides it from the public and requires moderators to decide if its thread worthy.
Only Admins, Moderators, BFSC members and veterans list members have this ability though.
