No..Barrett believes that the excuse that Beams is using, re his dad, is only about 20% of the real reason he wants out of Collingwood.. He said Beams actually just wants to get out of there and I guess using his dad and his brother for the reason was an easier option.. Therefore he is saying that if Brisbane wont come up with a suitable trade, then Beams might agree to be traded to GWS just to get out of Collingwood..
Thats what I thought I heard...

Cant get home to his family, well trade me to where my drinking buddy is so we can run amok...;)

so not only are we losing an incredibly talented player who was our loading goal kicker last year, we've also destroyed his trade value in the process

The handling of Garlett has been an absurd error in the list management department

Agree wholeheartedly. You can add the coaching staff also. Despite his misdemeanour, when it was evident we were not going to play finals why not give him a couple of games and at least attempt to increase his trade value?

Liam Pickering said Mick told him he wanted to play Garlett. His injured shoulder and a couple of other off field problems forced him to be played in the 2s.

Surely you don't lose ALL trade value off one bad, injury interrupted season. Roos is really keen on him and Essendon were interested too. Would've thought we could squeeze more than pick 40 odd out of him.

Now I've set myself up to be disappointed. :(

What a shame this is. Mick got what he wanted.... :(

Where did you get that idea? I'm sure Mick would have preferred having a settled and focussed Garlett at his disposal next year to losing him like this.

Jeffy wanted a trade - not the other way round.

The club did everything in it's power to support jeff and hope that he would decide to stay.

Expect play him in the 1s

Understand Jeff wants to leave, which is why I said we've shot his trade value by treating him like a fringe player when the facts were last year he was our most damaging forward

Re: Lucas to Freo for Sheridan

This would be a huge win for us but it's a bit too good to be true. I have it on decent authority that Sheridan was thinking of coming home earlier this season to play first team footy... only problem, he's a lifetime essendon* supporter. Its a monumental long shot, but we should absolutely get in his ear in the hope that he requests a trade.

I love it when people think that's a genuine reason for a player not to go to a certain team.

To be fair, Jeffy has had some serious issues off field which the club has done everything it can to help him out.

What happened if he played in the 1s and did SFA?

He's not guaranteed to fix himself at Melbourne either but I hope he does because he's Jeffy.

I seem to recall that happening anyway.
So how does that increase his value?

I think we just need to accept the club tried to do what was best for Jeff as a person and tried to do everything in their power to keep him.

The way this is being portrayed in the media is not reality.

I'm agreeing with you, friend.

I guess Simon Goodwin promised to teach Jeffy how to drink and gamble whilst still getting a game... still don't get the Melbourne decision...
It's better than Essendon & staying in Vic is good for him.
