I noticed in the Chapman article that we are short on cap space.
How could that be? I fairly sure Swann said last year we had enough room to bring in two big signings this offseason
Also how does Essendon the cap space to fit in Chapman and make a bid for Dal Santo/Montagna, after they bought in Goddard last year on big coin??

Brisbane list manager said on SEN this morning that Docherty deal is nearly done with Blues. Just waiting to see how other trades fall which may improve their Pick positions.

Moral of the story: Don't believe everything (read: anything) you read in the Herald Sun.
They're journalism's response to internet trolls.
That is where Carlton needs to stand strong on their offer. There is no point trading out Bootsma for unders and then giving that to Brisbane.
I would be telling Brisbane "#29 + Laidler is the best you will get" and stick to it.
And they ignore little bits of information such as Judd's VISY contract being put into the salary cap last year with next to no warning, Judd taking a 500K reduction in salary for next year, Hampson (would was on what, 300kish ???) and Betts (about the same ???) leaving and god knows what is happening with Scotland (or what contracts may have been forward or back ended)
Footy "journalists" these days are as reliable and accurate as posted on BF ...........

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
The Herald Sun in particular presents as if it's written by a bunch of work experience kids. It is nothing but sensationalist gutter journalism...and even that might be giving it too much credit.
Filled with fallacies and errors......and the journos crack it when their constant errors are pointed out.
And on top of that they have the audacity to charge for reading their material online.
