he has always made me cringe with his over the top ego and his commentating style. The most over rated footy commentator around.

I like BT, he isn't technically the best commentator and makes mistakes but he's entertaining and funny.

He was at his best back when he was commentating with Lyon and Brayshaw on Ch.9 when they had the footy. Probably not as good at Ch.7.

+1 his best work is still when he was ch9 or on mmm. The fact that he's not as good now is more to do with the channel 7 commentators around him than him not performing himself. BT, Brayshaw et al were all in tune and were easilly the best there's been for several years now

Of the guys who are play by play callers, he is easily the funniest, he is about the only one with the ticker to actually criticise players, and he is the only one who has actually played league footy (except Dwayne Russel but he is awful).

BT clearly > Bruce, Dennis, Dwayne, Hudson

This is the sort of thing I like least about him. He is condescending to the point of just being an annoying prick. I'm sure he thinks it's hilarious in his own mind.

I don't mind him normally, this habit aside, but he was terrible in the Suns v Bombers game.

Meatball isn't a BT thing. That's actually Prestia's nickname around the club.

Reason being that for a small guy, he's really well built and not skinny at all. I think he's about 84kg @ 175cms. Most of that is muscle, with his skin folds being the lowest at the club.

Similar to how some body builders are called meatballs I guess?

He's had it since his Calder Cannon days, which I expect where BT picked it up from.

But gosh, commentators (not only BT) need to learn who the Suns are. They've been around for a year, and they're paid professionals. Darcy called Shaw Matera a few times too. And as pointed out, it took BT 2 quarters to learn Hall's actual name.

If you listened to BT and Darcy without knowing better in one instance, Shaw streamed along the wing, then kicked it to Shaw on the lead in the forward 50. I mean what?

Don't mind BT but i don't think he's as good as he was. The combo with Gerard Healy and Glen Jackovich was great - insight and (unintentional) comedy, a nice mix

Sorry, I like BT he's the only commentator I actually listen to, everyone else the commentary is just a constant drone which i sub consciously ignore, however, being a Freo supporter could be the reason I'm so fond of him

Fact is you can't please everyone, him being an Ex Magpie certainly doesn't help his cause, he's a beer and sausage commentator, a mans man commentator, where Bruce and Dennis will appeal more to the women and metro's (not that i don't like them).

I'm actually liking the FTA commentators at present, can't say i hate any of them (except for Harley and Darcy).

BT has one of those personalitys, you either love him or you hate him (a lot depends on if your sides winning or losing though IMO), during our last bad spell, i hated all the commentators.

This should be a good thing, you shouldn't notice a good commentator. Almost every caller on TV atm seems to think people are tuning in to listen to them. I put BT right up there with Dwayno simply because he deliberately tries to make big moments about himself. Just call the game you fat ****.

BT is great. I want my commentators to mirror the excitement on the ground and in the stands, not just blandly go through the motions.

Hell even Dwayne Russell goes allright, hate him all you like for his 'devils advocate' style of muckraking but he is a very good, very knowledgable play by play caller. (Even if he does want to ttake the entire GFC to bed!)

JB is my favourite. I watched a game recently with a few scottish mates and JB was commentating, they loved his colloquial style, were in stitches. That aside, he also knows his stuff.

BT is an irritating caller on occasions. I don't think he is anywhere near as bad as Dwayne Russell.

Forget about BTs over-enthusiasm, there is no excuse for his lack of knowledge. He is held up as being one of the pre-eminent AFL callers. I'm listening to 3AW now and he's made 2 mistakes.

What's arguably more concerning is that none of his colleagues corrected him. First he said that Jared Brennan plays for Brisbane. Second, he said that the byes were in Rounds 12 and 13. Of course Brennan plays at Gold Coast and the byes are Rounds 11, 12 and 13.

He got a bite from Richo in the West Coast v Hawthorn game when he questioned one of his observations in typical cynical BT fashion. He's been going back for more ever since trying to get a rise out of him. Pretty entertaining, but it doesn't detract from him being an arrogant tossbag.
