So McLaren played that exactly right.

And another sobering reminder that posting in your PJs staring at the TV means jack shit.
In fairness they have left plenty of points behind on strategy mistakes this season. Some reasonable reasons to be somewhat concerned with the strategy.

After qualifying he said he really struggled with the softs. So they start him on softs.
Sainz went the full race on hards after lap 6 or 7 . Maybe after the graining in the previous GPon Dannys car they stayed off the hard , but they just appear poor in their strategy .

How so?

With Oscar? He was 10 seconds Max when he could have undercut George and been in 3rd and not risked using tyres to pass.
Oscar was never getting past Max. Going from 5th to 3rd is a good result.

My point is they could have him in third without needing to overtake on track and would have come out closer to Max than he ultimately did, unlikely he overtakes but it was pretty clear it wasn't the best strategy. They were hoping for SC.

We are sorely lacking some safety car action in a race like tonight.
i miss when things would actually go wrong with cars every so often. near perfection and on rails most of the time.

Engineers genuinely ruin the sport. It's impressive to see what they can do, but the way they manipulate everything so cars drive on rails and can't overtake is ****ing annoying.
plus there is pretty much no variables in the sport. everyone has the same tyres, there's what, 3 engines? any innovation basically gets banned straight away.
