i met monty once a year ago and i reminded him of the day he kissed his bulldog jumper after a goal ,i told him i loved it and wish we could see more of that pride in our current group. He told he agreed and was trying to instill that into the culture he was really great to talk to ,for what its worth he really impressed me

I don't really know if I am up to responding to this but lets give it a go

A rookie coach will be coming into our club in difficult circumstances. I don't know if its possible that there aren't some lingering fractures amongst the playing group and administration. The new coach needs to be able cut thru that immediately and unite the entire club with a compelling vision. Could a Rookie do that? Sure!
if we hire a senior experience guy to oversee and protect the coach and keep a finger on the pulse of the list - than the rookie option is valid.

If however the club has promised to retain Monty as senior assistant and is determined to stick to this, then a rookie coach even with an elder statesman overseeing operations - remains a toxic environment. Simply can't work and foolhardy to try.

The difference between a rookie coach and mark choco Williams: the rookie may end up Clarkson, McKenna or Neeld. Williams will not be a Neeld. I concede he maybe no more than a McKenna. He could also have acquired more savvy and trump Clarkson.

At this point the call is marginally in williams favour and i concede a quality rookie like drew or even beveridge may still trump Williams.

Where the Williams call becomes compelling is his media and promotional savvy - we get a triple A media operator. A master of exciting and enthusing a supporter base. The result is desperately needed increase in media coverage, membership, sponsorship ...

So if all other things are equal - and he wants the job - he is the stand out

I still believe the club will come to this conclusion

Or Williams in fact does the exact opposite by proving exactly how big of a mentally unhinged, self-important tosspot he really is, let's his ego get too big, loses the playing group, gets the media offside, and alienates any sponsor from ever coming near us.

Williams is the Jose Mourinho of the AFL world, without the tactical nous to back it up.

If we appointed him I'd think twice and a third time about my membership (of course I'd cave and buy it anyway, as is our love for the club) but I'd be willing to bet you would lose just as many members as you'd gain from his appointment due the "massive w***er" factor alone.

EDIT: Wow, didn't realise w***er was in the swear filter.

Prefer an experienced coach over a newbie.

Choco for me. Think of all the drama it will bring to the club. It will take the focus off the field and heat of the young pups.

But seriously get someone that has had premiership success in the past as a player or coach. We need a big name at the club that can be the face of the club.

Strange, I wonder why the media haven't picked up on our interest in Tudor?

Did the media pick up our interest in Tom Boyd before the fact?

The media largely ignoring us can be a blessing sometimes

I don't think they are ignoring us, they simply can't find out any information. This of course leads to over speculation. Beverage had not even been interviewed and he was the front runner is a good example.

I suppose your entitled to express such a view
Jose mourinho is the most wanted coach in world soccer
If you wanted to disparage Williams then you need to find a better parallel

What about DAmir dokic - see that would get your point across much better
I get you line of thinking but the moutinho jibe is clanger

Try it again with Dokic or someone more appropriate

Mourinho is NOT the most wanted coach in world soccer. It's been shown (pretty damn well too) that he can't win shit without spending a metric ****tonne of money, his days at Porto excepted. Plus the entire world knows he's a ******** of the highest order.

Every club without access to oil baron riches won't touch Mourinho.

How is Chelsea going?

Yet you scream for the return of the man that lead the wane ???

I dont believe the consensus is that we get McCartney back, rather we hope the club doesnt go down the same path of repeating past mistakes

Well, we know that Monty has at least had a meeting with the panel yesterday. Don't know what it's about, but you could assume it was a presentation. Or them informing him that he's not going to get the job.
Yes, interesting to know who is meeting with who, but to take from that anything else from that is really clutching at straws. Could mean absolutely anything, but then that's the media for you.

There will be no decision until this thread gets to 1000 pages. The board and administration have decided that all big footy Bulldogs posters are much wiser than themselves, so whoever posts the first post on the 1000th page will become senior coach. After several weeks at the pub the selection committee has decided this is the fairest for all concerned as all big footy Bulldogs posters agree on every little thing and as a result will bring about an unprecedented utopia among Bulldogs supporters.

I'm being told they are less than 10 days away from an announcement, down to Tudor and Bev.
Monty out.
No experienced coaches being interviewed either.....Obviously.
This is good news Kelvin ...... especially if your info is on the money. I would be comfortable with Tudor or Beveridge but have concerns with Monty.

In regard to the media coverage ....... they have been reporting rubbish for several days because the club has been very strong in not providing a day to day commentary on the process of selecting the next coach. Accordingly, the media make-up their own versions and scenario's through speculation, which supporters unfortunately tend to believe as fact ........ hence the sad content of many posts in this thread.

Got this tweet this morning. Sorry if its already posted.

"We’re off to Ballarat this morning with some of the boys… stay tuned for a Club announcement around 10:45am. #BeMoreBulldog"

Hopefully they at least announce who the remaining candidates are!
